Trump’s Sovereign Wealth Fund: Strengthening U.S. Financials and National Security
The implications of President Trump’s February 3 Executive Order No. 14196, titled “A Plan for Establishing a United States Sovereign Wealth Fund” are revolutionary. What is likely to be unveiled soon is a masterful plan that will add tremendous wealth to the asset side of the U.S fiscal ledger. In fact, it will strengthen the U.S. balance sheet, adding the value of enormous previously undeclared natural resource assets to offset the $36+ trillion in national debt liability.
This sovereign wealth fund can serve to maximize the stewardship of the natural resource wealth of the United States, and facilitate the financial return on our rare earth elements needed by the defense industry — strengthening U.S. defensive capabilities and war deterrence. Long-term it will ensure the independent ability to project unquestioned superior U.S. military power.
Even without including rare-earth elements in the sovereign wealth fund, the domestic quantities of which are presently unknown, the value of just four known major U.S. natural resources will dramatically strengthen the U.S. balance sheet:
U.S. oil and natural gas reserves total about $19.4 trillion
U.S. coal deposits total about $2.5 trillion
U.S. gold deposits total about $2.2 trillion
U.S. copper deposits total about $8.4 trillion

Foreign Investors Loaded Up on Treasury Securities in March Despite all the Turmoil in the Media
And in April, their purchases of long-term securities at Treasury auctions increased.
Buying US Treasury securities was all the rage among foreign investors in March, despite whatever turmoil there was in the media. All foreign investors combined, from central banks to private investors, increased their holdings of Treasury securities by $233 billion in March from February, and by $942 billion over the past 12 months, to a record $9.05 trillion (red in the chart).
The majority of what they bought were long-term Treasury securities, which increased by $133 billion to a record $7.63 trillion, according to data by the Treasury Department Friday afternoon (blue in the chart).
The buying was across the major holders, except for China and Hong Kong combined, and for Ireland. Of particular note: Canada’s holdings of Treasury securities spiked majestically in February and March, despite the tariffs and the ultra-sour mood in Canada about US-anything.

United Kingdom: +$29 billion, to $779 billion
Luxembourg: unchanged, at $412 billion
Cayman Islands: +$37 billion to $455 billion
Ireland: -10 billion to $329 billion
Belgium: +$7 billion to $402 billion

Moody’s downgrade of US rating may not dent stock markets much: Analysts
Global financial markets may not react much to Moody’s Ratings downgrade of United States’ rating from AAA to Aa1, believe analysts, except for a knee-jerk reaction, if any. At the domestic level, Indian stock markets would be focussed more developments such as progress of monsoon, corporate results and economic data. Talks on tariff-related issues with the US will also impact sentiment.

Moody’s downgrade, they said, was more to get the rating in sync with Fitch and S&P, who have already downgraded US’ ratings. While Fitch had downgraded the rating to AA+ from AAA in August 2023, S&P had lowered US’ rating back in August 2011.

The ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ will bring big benefits for blue-collar workers
The reconciliation bill
As it is currently structured, the bill would eliminate federal income taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security. It would also make the 2017 tax cuts permanent, increase the standard deduction and Child Tax Credit, expand health savings accounts and 529 education savings accounts, enlarge small business tax credits, increase Opportunity Zones, and allow 100 percent expensing for new factories, improvements to existing factories, and other production facilities.
Despite all these provisions that will particularly boost workers’ take-home pay and create new good-paying manufacturing jobs, almost every Democrat on Capitol Hill continues to portray the bill as nothing more than a tax cut for the rich.
“The overwhelming majority of the benefits will go to the wealthiest 1%,” claims House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY).
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said the bill includes more “tax cuts for billionaires paid for on the backs of working and middle-class Americans.”
This is verifiably false. As The Heartland Institute has noted in two policy studies, IRS data show that the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act disproportionately benefited working- and middle-class Americans, not the ultra-wealthy.
Consider. In terms of the percentage saved per filer, the IRS data show that filers on the lower end of the income spectrum received far larger reductions compared to those on the higher end. For example, if you earned $45,000 in 2022, under the TCJA, you received a 19 percent reduction in taxes compared to 2017. If you earned $5 million, you saved 2.3 percent.
In other words, the TCJA gave all Americans a tax rate cut; however, the rate cuts were substantially larger for the lower-income brackets. By designing the law to mostly benefit middle- and lower-income earners, the TCJA resulted in the rich paying a larger share of the overall tax burden.
This is an indisputable and vital point. It also obliterates the Left’s talking point that the TCJA was a big tax cut for the rich.
According to the IRS data, “every income bracket earning less than $200,000 [in 2022] paid a smaller share of the overall tax burden than they did in 2017.” On the other hand, “every income bracket above $200,000 paid a greater share of the total income tax burden.”
The big, beautiful bill simply extends the 2017 TCJA tax rate cuts while further reducing income taxes for millions of wage earners who rely on tips and overtime. The last time I checked, most billionaires are not compensated via tips and overtime.

Trump Admin Allows ‘Forced Reset Triggers’ for Guns
President Donald Trump’s administration agreed to permit the sale and possession of devices that let gun enthusiasts convert semiautomatic rifles into weapons that can shoot as fast as machine guns.
The agreement came in a settlement announced by the Department of Justice resolving lawsuits brought under Trump’s Democrat predecessor, Joe Biden, after his administration banned certain “forced-reset triggers.”
“This Department of Justice believes that the 2nd Amendment is not a second-class right,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement, referring to the constitutional right to bear arms. “And we are glad to end a needless cycle of litigation with a settlement that will enhance public safety.”

U.S. Import Prices Rose in April, Suggesting No Tariff Supply Shock
Import prices ticked up slightly in April, driven by higher costs for nonfuel goods even as fuel prices continued to slide, according to data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The Trump administration’s 10 percent universal tariff and additional targeted duties on over 60 countries were announced on April 2 and went into effect on April 5. The modest rise in import prices, particularly outside the fuel category, suggests that the duties have not significantly deterred U.S. purchases of foreign-made goods.

The increase in nonfuel goods prices, combined with steady import volumes, may indicate that tariff-related costs are being absorbed without major shifts in buying behavior, at least so far.

Breaking: Supreme Court Again Blocks Trump Admin From Deporting TdA Members Without Proper Notice
This is going to be a rather tortured procedural history to lay out here, but before I do, I want to make several points:
The Supreme Court is not prohibiting the removal of illegal alien Tren de Aragua (TdA) members under the AEA.
It is not (yet) weighing in on the merits of the proclamation issued by President Donald Trump and AEA removal.
It is saying that those who may be subject to removal pursuant to the AEA and proclamation are entitled to due process, consisting of some degree of notice more than 24 hours prior to removal.
And it is also very clearly saying that “The Government may remove the named plaintiffs or putative class members under other lawful authorities” (e.g., the Immigration Nationality Act (INA)).
And mostly what it is saying is that it’s temporarily pressing pause so that everyone can take a breath and no one gets erroneously shipped off to prison in El Salvador because everyone was in a mad scramble over it.
All of the above said, this is a loss for the Trump administration — but it’s a temporary one, and one that may not matter tremendously in the whole scheme of things. Nevertheless, Justice Samuel Alito has authored a dissent (in which Justice Clarence Thomas has joined). And Justice Brett Kavanaugh has authored a concurrence.

noncitizens, per The Center for Immigration Studies. Right now, there are reports of expectant mothers who are either illegal or in the US under temporary parole, lining up for preterm c-sections to beat President Trump’s Feb 20th cutoff date, some as early as 7 months gestation.
France, New Zealand, and Australia have all abandoned birthright citizenship in the past few decades. Ireland was the last country in the European Union to follow the practice, ending it in 2005. Framers of the 14th Amendment, including Senator Lyman Trumbull, considered the driving force behind the amendment, specifically stated at the time that the Citizenship Clause does not encompass individuals still owing allegiance to any other country.
The language in the 14 Amendment was derived from the 1866 Civil Rights Act, which provided that “[a]ll persons born in the United States, and not subject to any foreign power” would be considered citizens. Two Supreme Court cases upheld that the 14th Amendment excludes citizens of foreign countries born in the US, The Slaughter-House Cases (1872) and Elk v. Wilkins (1884). The 14th Amendment did not originally grant citizenship to American Indians. Why not? Because they were considered to hold allegiances to tribal nations and were only “partially” subject to the jurisdiction of the US Government. American Indians and their children did not become citizens until 1924 with passage of the Indian Citizenship Act, despite being born on American soil.
Why would they need this law if simply being born within the US automatically granted someone citizenship? Birthright proponents like to cite the 1898 Supreme Court case, United States v. Wong, but conveniently forget that even then, the child’s Chinese parents resided in the United States lawfully and permanently. The 14th Amendment was clearly written to grant citizenship to freed slaves born in America, not to illegals who owe allegiance, are citizens of a foreign country, and “subject to the jurisdiction thereof.” It’s time to protect and preserve the value of American citizenship and finally get this right.

U.S. Egg Prices PLUMMET 12.7% — Biggest Monthly Drop Since 1984
U.S. egg prices nosedived by 12.7% in April, marking the steepest monthly decline since March 1984, according to the latest Consumer Price Index data released Tuesday.
The average price for a dozen Grade A eggs fell to $5.12, down from a record $6.23 in March.
According to the latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics:
Five of the six major grocery store food group indexes decreased in April. Driven primarily by a 12.7-percent decrease in the index for eggs, the index for meats, poultry, fish, and eggs fell 1.6 percent in April after rising in recent months. The fruits and vegetables index decreased 0.4 percent over the month and the cereals and bakery products index declined 0.5 percent.

Trump Signs $1.2 Trillion Economic Deal With Qatar
Agreements signed by President Donald Trump and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani on Wednesday will “generate an economic exchange worth at least $1.2 trillion,” the White House wrote in a fact sheet summarizing some of the deals’ details.
“The landmark deals celebrated today will drive innovation and prosperity for generations, bolster American manufacturing and technological leadership, and put America on the path to a new Golden Age,” the White House wrote in a statement.
“Since President Trump took office, his commitment to American manufacturing and innovation has attracted trillions of dollars in investments and global commercial deals. Allies like Qatar are partnering in the United States’ success.”
The agreements include a $96 billion deal with Qatar Airways to buy up to 210 Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X airplanes with GE Aerospace engines, the fact sheet said.
“This is Boeing’s largest-ever widebody order and largest-ever 787 order,” the White House wrote. “This historic agreement will support 154,000 U.S. jobs annually, totaling over 1 million jobs in the United States during the course of production and delivery of this deal.”

The U.S. needs to pay off debt before establishing a sovereign wealth fund, President Donald Trump said on Thursday, signaling a potential shift to plans to create a fund within a year.
“I’d rather pay the debt off and then do the fund after the debt’s paid off,” Trump said in Doha during a press conference.

California Gas Prices Could Rise 75% By End Of 2026: USC Analysis
California gas prices could skyrocket by as much as 75 percent by the end of 2026 with the expected shutdown of oil refineries in the state, according to an analysis released May 5 by a researcher at the University of Southern California (USC).
Regular gasoline prices could rise from an average of $4.82 in April 2025 to as high as $8.44 a gallon by the end of next year, said the report, authored by Professor Michael Mische at the Marshall School of Business.
Two Phillips 66 refineries in Los Angeles—about 8 percent of the state’s oil refining capacity—are slated to close by the end of this year. Valero Energy Corp. also announced last month it will shut down or restructure its Benicia refinery in the San Francisco Bay area—which accounts for about 9 percent of refining capacity—by April 2026, increasing concerns over gas prices and supply.
The USC analysis states that based on current demand, consumption, state regulations, and other factors, the refinery closures could result in a potential 21 percent drop in refining capacity from 2023 to April 2026.
The state of California is currently suing major oil companies over alleged deception regarding the risks of climate change and fossil fuel combustion.
New permits have plummeted 97 percent over the last five years, according to data from the California Department of Conservation. New drilling permits in the state dropped from 2,676 in 2019 to 86 in 2024.

BREAKING: Trump Admin Invokes State Secrets Privilege to Block Attempt to Return Kilmar Abrego Garcia to US – Judge Xinis Responds
The Trump Administration invoked the state secrets privilege to block the attempt to return MS-13 gang member and wife beater Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the Unites States.
The Trump DOJ invoked the State Secrets Privilege in response to a federal judge’s order demanding details on Abrego Garcia’s incarceration at El Salvador’s CECOT prison.
US District Judge Paula Xinis, an Obama appointee, responded to the Trump Administration’s invocation of the state secrets privilege and ordered a formal briefing.
Both parties must submit briefs by Monday.
“The Court requires formal briefing of the Defendants’ invocations of privilege, principally the state secrets and deliberative process privileges, as discussed in ECF No. 112. Accordingly, by Monday May 12, 2025, the parties shall submit simultaneous briefs, not to exceed 25 pages exclusive of exhibits, addressing the legal and factual bases for the invocation of those privileges, including Plaintiff’s request for the Court to conduct in camera review of the withheld documents,” Judge Xinis wrote in a 2-page order reviewed by The Gateway Pundit.
This is the second time the Trump DOJ has invoked the state secrets privilege to push back on a radical judge’s demands.

Apparently, one of those worst was 44-year-old Brazilian national Luis da Silva, who was deported from the U.S. back to his home nation last month, the New York Post reported.
According to Brazilian officials, he was planning to commit mass murder at a Lady Gaga concert Saturday that was attended by over 2 million people at Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach.
Da Silva “wanted to livestream the execution of children and set up bombs close to the stage during Gaga’s performance,” investigators said, according to the Post.
“He said that the singer was a Satanist and that he was going to perform a Satanist ritual too, killing a child during the show,” officer Felipe Curi, a Rio de Janeiro Civil Police secretary, told reporters Monday.

EU Set To Tariff $113 Billion In U.S. Goods If Trade Talks Break Down
The European Union is preparing to impose up to €100 billion ($113 billion) in tariffs on US goods if trade talks fail, according to a new report by Bloomberg this morning.
The draft list of retaliatory measures will be circulated to member states as early as Wednesday, with a one-month consultation period before finalization.
“These import taxes are unjustified and cause economic harm on both sides of the Atlantic,” said EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic. “This situation is not acceptable and we cannot afford to stay idle.”
The EU has already delayed €21 billion in planned tariffs after the US halved its reciprocal duties during ongoing negotiations. Talks, which began in earnest last month, have made little headway.

American Manufacturers Overwhelmed With Orders After Trump’s Tariff Crackdown On China
Trump’s tariffs, including a 145% levy on Chinese goods, are causing American-made products to be more competitive in the market. As a result, many small and medium manufacturers are experiencing a surge in demand and are preparing to ramp up production and hire new workers.
Jergens Inc., a midwestern toolmaker with less than 500 employees, says it’s “going like gangbusters” trying to keep up with demand, The Wall Street Journal reported. They are seeing an influx of orders from customers trying to avoid import tariffs, along with steady defense-related demand. “We are running 24 hours a day, seven days a week” said Jergens president Jack Schron, according to the Journal. “We are swamped.”
Grand River Rubber & Plastics, a plastics and rubber manufacturer in Ohio, says customers that once offshored to China are reversing course, the Journal noted. Two buyers who left years ago returned within days of each other and two new oil filter manufacturers have already placed orders. The company’s new business could amount to $5 million annually, roughly 10% of Grand River’s revenue.
The spike in new business reported by many American manufacturers coincides with a sharp decrease in Chinese manufacturing. When Trump announced the tariffs last month, he predicted American businesses and consumers would both benefit.

3. The govt can choose to not enforce any of the immigration laws. The govt is not bound by any of the enforcement sections of the INA – even the ones that specifically spell out what the govt “shall do”.
4. However, the govt cannot change the policy of an administration before it if was a Democratic administration that put it into place.
5. The govt may only very narrowly use the many provisions set for by law in the INA to enforce immigration law. Some things that are in the INA – passed by Congress – the federal courts have deemed this administration can’t use for any purpose – even if it follows the statute.
So in summary, illegal aliens get at least 200% of the benefit side of the law, and the govt only gets to use about 25% of the enforcement laws available.
