Top Auto CEO Says He May Pull Production Out of Mexico If Trump Follows Through on Tariffs
The CEO of Nissan has said he may be forced to move production out of Mexico if Donald Trump imposes tariffs on exports.
The head of the Japanese automaker made the comments during a press conference on Friday.
“From Mexico to the U.S., we are exporting a significant number of cars this fiscal year,” Uchida said, according to Reuters.
”320,000 units are exported from Mexico to the U.S., and if the high tariffs are imposed, we need to be ready for this,” he continued.
”Maybe we can transfer the production of these models elsewhere if this were the decision, we will think how we can make it a reality while monitoring the situation.”

A 1974 federal law forces the President to avoid efficiency and cost savings
Average Americans can be forgiven for not understanding how Joe Biden was able to “forgive” student debt and stop Trump’s Border Wall construction without pushback from the media, Congress, or the courts, while Trump’s efforts to make government more efficient are being blocked at every turn.
The Impoundment and Control Act of 1974 was passed at the height of the Watergate debacle and was a calculated move by Congress to stop Nixon’s so-called Imperial Presidency.
Understood in its most basic terms, Congress says that if it voted to spend money on something, the president may not change that amount, even if he can achieve the exact same outcome by spending less money. To put it bluntly, the Act says that the president is not allowed to save the country money.
As a hypothetical example, assume that Congress has budgeted $1 billion to rebuild the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. The President, however, finds a way to re-construct the bridge to the exact specifications laid out by Congress for $500 million, saving half the cost. Under the Act’s explicit terms, the president would be barred from this cost-saving approach. He must spend all $1 billion. If this has you scratching your head—well, welcome to the club.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has the power to enable all of Trump’s efficiencies to be made legal.

What Reagan’s Gold Commission reported back to Congress in 1982 was the following shocking revelation concerning gold. The US Treasury owned no gold at all.
All the gold that was left in Fort Knox was now owned by the Federal Reserve, a group of private bankers, as collateral against the national debt. Trump IRS Purge: 15,000 Employees Have Been Identified for Potential Termination as Early as Next Week
The Trump administration has executed one of the most significant workforce reductions in U.S. history, targeting over 200,000 probationary employees across multiple government agencies.
According to data from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), as of March 2024, approximately 220,000 federal workers had not yet completed their probationary period.
An additional 288,000 employees had between one and two years of service, making them vulnerable to restructuring efforts.
It was first reported that Trump’s administration plans to axe around 9,000 jobs at the IRS, primarily targeting employees still in their probationary period.
However, according to ABC News citing sources familiar with the matter, as many as 15,000 IRS workers have been identified for possible termination as early as next week.

US retail spending plunged last month, falling for the first time since August
American shoppers pulled back on their spending last month for the first time since August as stubborn inflation continued to bite and harsh weather curbed economic activity.
Retail sales plunged 0.9% in January from the prior month, the Commerce Department said Friday. That’s down sharply from December’s upwardly revised 0.7% gain and well below economists’ expectations of a 0.4% decline. The figures are adjusted for seasonal swings but not inflation.
Shoppers reined in their spending across multiple categories last month. Specialty stores and auto dealers were hit hardest, with spending falling 4.6% and 3%, respectively.
Inflation could worsen if President Donald Trump keeps his promise of imposing 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada as soon as March 1. The Trump administration is also weighing levying reciprocal tariffs in April. Most economists say Trump’s hefty duties would likely ramp up price pressures in the US, contrary to the Trump administration’s belief that foreign countries will pay for the tariffs

Abolish property taxes? DeSantis endorses the idea and explains how it could be done in Florida
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis endorsed the idea of abolishing property taxes throughout the Sunshine State, but explained that it would require a constitutional amendment.
The governor, who is currently serving his second term after a decisive re-election victory in Florida’s 2022 gubernatorial contest, was responding to someone on X who advocated abolishing property taxes in the state and asked what would need to be done to make that happen.
“Property taxes are local, not state. So we’d need to do a constitutional amendment (requires 60% of voters to approve) to eliminate them (which I would support) or even to reform/lower them,” DeSantis noted.
“We should put the boldest amendment on the ballot that has a chance of getting that 60%,” he continued.
“I agree that taxing land/property is the more oppressive and ineffective form of taxation,” the governor added.

A top official in the Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) directed millions in migrant assistance grants to nonprofits where she previously held senior positions, a watchdog report revealed Thursday.
Robin Dunn Marcos, who led HHS’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) under former President Joe Biden, oversaw $22.6 billion in grant distributions since 2020, with her former employers emerging as top beneficiaries. The International Rescue Committee (IRC), where she spent 23 years as a senior director, received $598 million, while Church World Service, her employer of four years, was awarded $355 million, according to an OpenTheBooks report.
Through a network of nonprofit organizations, ORR provided an extensive array of benefits to migrants, including dollar-for-dollar matching savings plans for vehicle and home purchases, small business loans up to $15,000 and credit repair loans up to $1,500. Additional services included “cultural orientation,” emergency housing support, legal assistance and Medicaid care. The OpenTheBooks report called the programs a “giant magnet for those seeking to cross the border and claim asylum.”

Trump Admin Formally Ends Biden’s War on Gas Stoves
The Consumer Product Safety Commission is formally ending a review that it initiated during the Biden administration to assess the potential health risks posed by gas-powered stovetops.
In a statement to the Washington Free Beacon, Consumer Product Safety Commission acting chairman Peter Feldman said he considers the matter “concluded” and emphasized that the federal government should not interfere with consumer choice. Feldman’s comments effectively put an end to a years-long process that critics feared would lead to a broad ban on gas stoves.

Lee Zeldin, EPA Chief for the Trump administration, has pledged to recover the $20 billion in taxpayer funds lost by the Biden administration to climate projects.
Zeldin made the announcement in a video posted to social media on Wednesay when he charged the Biden administration of “throwing gold bars of the Titanic” in relation to the money lost on climate projects that he said was a “rush job with reduced oversight.”
“The days of irresponsibly shoveling boatloads of cash to far-left activist groups in the name of environmental justice and climate equity are over,” Zeldin said. “The American public deserves a more transparent and accountable government than what transpired these past four years.”

The debate over “debanking”—the exclusion of individuals and businesses from the financial system—has gained traction, particularly within the cryptocurrency sector.
Addressing concerns raised by the Senate Banking Committee, Powell acknowledged growing reports of debanking incidents and expressed unease over the trend. “I too, am troubled by the quantity of these reports,” Powell stated in his testimony before the committee. He suggested that some banks might be erring on the side of caution, reluctant to engage with customers whose activities could raise compliance risks, particularly concerning anti-money laundering regulations. “One theory is that banks are just very risk averse,” he noted.
A section of the Fed manual states that reserve bank officials should evaluate the conduct of financial institutions and their leadership to determine whether affiliation with them presents “undue reputational risk.” It also asks whether an institution’s leadership is linked to “controversial commentary or activities.” However, the manual does not define what qualifies as “controversial commentary.”
During his testimony, Powell remarked that he and his colleagues were “struck” by the increasing number of cases in which individuals reported being excluded from the financial system. He assured lawmakers that the Fed was “determined to take a fresh look” at the matter.

US rescinds UN climate fund pledges
The US under former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama had pledged about $6bn combined to the GCF, with the most recent commitment announced at the Cop 28 climate talks in Dubai. But the two administrations were able to deliver only $2bn of the funding.
The US has canceled about $4bn in pledged money to the UN’s Green Climate Fund, the latest sign a sharp policy shift under President Donald Trump.
The State Department late last week said the US “has rescinded outstanding pledges to the Green Climate Fund,” but did not provide any further details.

Economists at companies ranging from Ford Motor Co. to Morgan Stanley and KPMG to Eaton Corp marked up their forecast for the increase in the consumer price index this year to 2.7% from 2.5% in October, Wolters Kluwer found in a survey.

Yet, to require the payment of additional fees would disenfranchise voters, regardless of the amount of the fee.…After analyzing all the evidence in this matter, this court finds that the defendant’s activity of possessing a firearm within the confines of her home is an act protected by the Second Amendment. Additionally, there are no historical analogues to the FOID Act as required in Bruen.

Trump says US may have less debt than thought because of fraud
U.S. President Donald Trump said his administration was examining U.S. Treasury debt payments for possible fraud and suggested that the country’s $36 trillion debt load might not be that high.
“We’re even looking at Treasuries,” Trump said. “There could be a problem – you’ve been reading about that, with Treasuries and that could be an interesting problem.”
He added: “It could be that a lot of those things don’t count. In other words, that some of that stuff that we’re finding is very fraudulent, therefore maybe we have less debt than we thought.”

FBI Officials Tipped-Off Criminal Aliens: Leaked Details of Pending Los Angeles ICE Deportation Operation to Media
There was a very disturbing article in the Los Angeles Times, warning criminal aliens of a pending ICE operation sweep that was coming to the LA area. The source for the advanced tip-off were indicated within the reporting to be FBI officials in Washington DC.
Today, it appears that Dept of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is confirming the leak came from the FBI as she says, “The FBI is so corrupt. We will work with any and every agency to stop leaks and prosecute these crooked deep state agents to the fullest extent of the law.”
The head of the DHS is saying the FBI is “corrupt.” We know it is. All evidence has always pointed to this; however, it is remarkable to see the DHS Secretary saying this publicly.

The Department of Homeland Security has asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to deputize some law-enforcement workers, including IRS criminal investigators, to assist in immigration enforcement, according to documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal.
In a memo dated Feb. 7, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem requested Bessent provide agents who would help investigate financial flows involving human-trafficking networks and businesses that employ illegal immigrants. The agents could help arrest, detain and transport people.

President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will launch a comprehensive investigation into California’s beleaguered High-Speed Rail project.
Trump lambasted the project as “the worst managed project I’ve ever seen,” hinting at what many conservatives have known all along: this boondoggle is nothing but a colossal waste of taxpayer money.

“One of the things I want to investigate rapidly—because I’ve never seen anything to this extent—is the train that’s being built between Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Trump eyes ‘reciprocal’ trade deals over flat fee tariffs
Trump said Friday he was considering reciprocal trade deals with countries rather than flat fee tariffs on imported goods from other countries.
Trump touted tariffs throughout his campaign and during his inauguration said tariff revenue would make the U.S. “rich as hell.” He also said that tariff revenue would lower the tax burden on American taxpayers.
On Friday, the president said he would announce reciprocal trade agreements next week with multiple countries.
“The United States will be conducting trade with all countries based on the principle of fairness and reciprocity,” Trump said.
“We’re going to have tariffs, mostly reciprocal tariffs … probably reciprocal tariffs where a country pays so much or charges us so much and we do the same, so very reciprocal because I think that’s the only fair way to do it. That way no one is hurt. They charge us, we charge them,” Trump said.
Trump said the reciprocal trade deals seem to be the path forward rather than flat fee tariffs. He said he would be announcing trade deals as early as Monday or Tuesday.

As part of its continued war on the “Green New Deal,” the Trump administration ordered states to end a multi-billion dollar program to build electric vehicle chargers along interstate highways.
the Federal Highway Administration released a memo directing states to halt the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program, a $5 billion provision under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law signed by former President Joe Biden in 2021.
