「By humility and the fear of the Lord

　Are riches and honor and life.」　　Amen.

Three blessings are described. Wealth, Honor, and Life. We need the material blessing of wealth. Honor, or being praised by someone, is also necessary. Life, the fundamental blessing that leads to love, joy, and peace, is also an important element. Where it comes from, they say, is from humility. But there is a fine line between humility and arrogance. True humility lies in bowing down to, obeying, and serving God.

　May we learn the Lord's humility today....

『へりくだりと、【主】を恐れることの報いは、

　富と誉れといのち。』

　三つの祝福が書かれています。富と誉れといのち。富という物質的な祝福も必要です。誉れという誰かに褒められることも必要です。いのちという愛や喜びや平安に繋がる根本的な祝福も大事な要素です。それがどこからくるかというと、へりくだりからくるというのです。でも、謙遜と傲慢は紙一重なのです。本当のへりくだりは、神にひれ伏し、従い、仕えていくところにあるのです。

　今日も、主のへりくだりを学ぶことができますように・・・。　

「The rich and the poor have this in common,

　The Lord is the maker of them all.」　 Amen.

　Rich and poor, capable and incapable, good and bad family backgrounds, we sometimes tend to compare ourselves with others while living in this world. But God says (Isaiah 43:4), “Since you were precious in My sight,You have been honored,And I have loved you;” He loves us equally, gives us equal missions, and opens the way to heaven equally.

　May we give thanks to God the Creator today....

『富む者と貧しい者が出会う。

　どちらもみな、造られたのは【主】である。』

　富める人と貧しい人、能力のある人とない人、家柄の良さとなさ、この世の生活をしながら、ついつい他人と比較してしまうことがあります。でも、神様は、(イザヤ43:4) 「わたしの目には、あなたは高価で尊い。わたしはあなたを愛している。」と、言ってくださるのです。平等に愛し、平等に使命を与え、平等に天国への道を開いてくださっているのです。

　今日も、創造主なる神様に感謝できますように・・・。　

「A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches,

　Loving favor rather than silver and gold.」　　Amen.

Is it good name is better than great riches, and loving favor is better than good name? Great riches, good name, and loving favor are all necessary. But the Bible says that the most valuable thing is to obtain God's “loving favor” to receive God's grace, to be pleasing to God. God is a good God. He wants to fill our lives with good things. (Psalm 81:10) “Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.”

　May we be filled with His grace today....

『名声は多くの富より望ましく、

　愛顧を受けることは銀や金にまさる。』

　富よりも名声、名声よりも愛顧という事でしょうか。富も名声も愛顧も必要なものです。しかし、聖書では、一番価値のあることは、神の「愛顧」を得る事、神の恵みを受けること、神に喜ばれることだと言うのです。神様は良き神様です。私たちの人生を良きもので満たそうとしておられるのです。(詩篇81:10)　「あなたの口を大きく開けよ。わたしがそれを満たそう。」

　今日も、主の恵みで満たされますように・・・。　

「A false witness shall perish,

　But the man who hears him will speak endlessly.」　Amen.　

A politician once said, “My motto is to listen well.” The word “listen” here means “shama” in Hebrew, “to hear God. To “keep talking,” you have to listen a lot. And it is God's Word that we hear.(Proverbs 20:12) “The hearing ear and the seeing eye,The Lord has made them both.”

　May we be hearers of the Lord's voice well today....

『偽りの証人は滅びる。

　しかし、よく聞く者は正しく語り続ける。』

　「私のモットーは、良く聞くことだ」と言った政治家がいましたが、ここでの「聞く」という言葉は、ヘブライ語で「シャーマ」、「神に聞く」という意味なのです。「語り続ける」ためには、沢山聞かなければなりません。そして、聞くのは神のみ言葉なのです。(箴言20:12)「聞く耳と見る目は、二つとも【主】が造られた。」

　今日も、良く主の御声を聞くものとなりますように・・・。

「There is desirable treasure,And oil in the dwelling of the wise,

　But a foolish man squanders it.」　　Amen.

　Obtaining financial blessings is also an important part of life. It is said that those who have wisdom will have it. What then is wisdom? Isn't it a heart that knows what is enough, a sound and strong heart, and a heart that knows God? (Philippians 4:19) “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

『知恵のある者の住まいには、好ましい財宝と油がある。

　しかし、愚かな人はこれを呑み尽くす。』

　経済的な祝福を得ることは、人生の大切な要素でもあります。知恵がある者には、それが備わるというのです。それでは、知恵とは何でしょうか？それは、足るを知る心・健全で強い心・神を知る心ではないでしょうか。(ピリピ4:19)「また、私の神は、キリスト・イエスの栄光のうちにあるご自分の豊かさにしたがって、あなたがたの必要をすべて満たしてくださいます。」

　今日も、主の祝福の中で過ごすことができますように・・・。
