「Then God's anger was aroused because he went,

　and the Angel of the Lord took His stand

　in the way as an adversary against him.

　And he was riding on his donkey,

　and his two servants were with him.」　Amen.

　Balak, the king of Moab, who was terrified of the Israelites, invited a soothsayer named Balaam from far away along the Euphrates River to curse Israel. He tried to follow God's warning, but he was so blinded by the greed of reward that he could not see the messenger of the Lord. When we put something between us and God, it becomes unbelief, and we can lose sight of God.

　May we open our hearts before the Lord today....

『しかし、彼が行こうとすると、

　神の怒りが燃え上がり、

　【主】の使いが彼に敵対して道に立ちはだかった。

　バラムはろばに乗っていて、

　二人の若者がそばにいた。』

　イスラエルの民に恐怖を感じたモアブの王バラクは、遠くユーフラテス河畔よりバラムという占い師を招いてイスラエルを呪わせようとします。一旦は、神の警告通りにしようとしますが、報酬という欲に目が眩み、主の使いをも見えなくなってしまったのです。私たちも神と自分の間に何かを置くと、それが不信仰となって、神が見えなくなってしまうことがあるのです。

　今日も、主の前に心を開くことができますように・・・。

『モーセが荒野で蛇を上げたように、人の子も上げられなければなりません。3:15 それは、信じる者がみな、人の子にあって永遠のいのちを持つためです。」3:16 神は、実に、そのひとり子をお与えになったほどに世を愛された。それは御子を信じる者が、一人として滅びることなく、永遠のいのちを持つためである。3:17 神が御子を世に遣わされたのは、世をさばくためではなく、御子によって世が救われるためである。3:18 御子を信じる者はさばかれない。信じない者はすでにさばかれている。神のひとり子の名を信じなかったからである。』

お祈りします。

愛する天のお父様、み名を崇め感謝します。青銅の蛇を見上げた時に、癒されたように、イエス様の十字架を信じて見上げたならば、罪赦され、永遠の命が与えられますから感謝します。この世を過しながら、いろいろな出来事が起きますが、信仰の創始者であり、完成者なるイエス様から目を離さないでいなさいと語ってくださって感謝します。いつでもどこでもイエス様を見上げながら祈り続ける事が出来ますようにお導き願います。今日の礼拝を感謝し、主イエス・キリストのお名前によってお祈り致します。アーメン。

「Then Israel sang this song:

　"Spring up, O well!All of you sing to it-」　Amen.

　They were denied passage through Edomite territory. The Israelites had to detour far. The people's grievances rose up again. Then came the “bronze serpent” incident. This is also a foretaste of the cross of Christ. During that trip, the miracle of water gushing out of a waterless well was sung in today's passage.

　May our hearts be filled with the Lord's miracles today as well....

『そのとき、イスラエルはこの歌を歌った。

　「井戸よ、湧きいでよ。あなたがたは、

　これに向かって歌え。』

　エドム人の領土を通ることは拒否されました。イスラエルの民は遠く迂回しなければなりませんでした。民の不平不満がまた立ち上りました。そこで、「青銅の蛇」事件が起こります。これは、キリストの十字架の予告でもあります。その旅行中、水なき井戸から水が湧き出る奇跡を歌ったのが今日の箇所です。

　今日も、主の奇跡に心を巡らすことができますように・・・。　

「Then Moses lifted his hand

　and struck the rock twice with his rod;

　and water came out abundantly,

　and the congregation and their animals drank.」　Amen.

 　Moses was a great charismatic leader, but here he left one stain. Moses struck the rock twice, even though the Lord had said, "Command the rock". Through his carelessness, disobedience, and unbelief, they could not enter the land of Canaan. But water gushed out of the rock. Herein lies the truthfulness and mercy of God.

　May we bow our heads before the Lord today....

『モーセは手を上げ、彼の杖で岩を二度打った。

　すると、豊かな水が湧き出たので、

　会衆もその家畜も飲んだ。』

　モーセは、偉大なカリスマ的指導者でしたが、ここに、ひとつの汚点を残しました。主は、「岩に命じれば」と言ったのに、モーセは二度も岩を打ったのです。彼の不注意、不従順、不信仰によって、彼らはカナンの地へ入れなかったのです。でも、岩から水は湧き出たのです。神の真実さと慈悲深さが、ここにあるのです。

　今日も、主の御前に頭を垂れることができますように・・・。　

「'And for an unclean person they shall take some of

　the ashes of the heifer burnt for purification from sin,

　and running water shall be put on them in a vessel.」　Amen.

　The most detailed instructions for cleansing are given. The Israelites were isolated from sacred rituals simply by touching a corpse, being in the same room as a dead person, or stumbling over a grave. Even today, it is essential to develop a sense of distinction between the sacred and the profane and to stay away from the profane. If we cannot pray to God or commune with God, it is because we are far away from the holy.

『この汚れた者のためには、

　罪のきよめのために焼いて作った灰を取り、

　器に入れ、それに新鮮な水を加える。』

　極めの細かいきよめの指示が示されています。イスラエル人は死体に触れたリ、死人と同じ部屋にいたり、墓につまずいたりするだけで聖なる儀式から隔離されました。今でも、聖なるものと俗なるものとを区別する感覚を磨き、俗なるものには近づかないようにすることが肝要です。神に祈れないとか神と交われないというのは、聖なるものから遠く離れているからではないでしょうか。

　今日も、主の御前に出ることができますように・・・。　

「"And it shall be that the rod of the man

　whom I choose will blossom;

　thus I will rid Myself of the complaints

　of the children of Israel,

　which they make against you."」　Amen.

　Neither priests nor Levites were to own allotments or inheritance lands. Only God was their allotment and inheritance. All of our possessions, abilities, and assets belong to God. We can only be content and thankful for what we have been given. God is our allotment and our inheritance.

　May we simply be thankful before the Lord today....
