「He who loves pleasure will be a poor man;

　He who loves wine and oil will not be rich.」　　Amen.

The Hebrew word simhā is translated both as “pleasure” and “joy”. However, “pleasure” and “joy” bear very different fruits. In “pleasure,” one pursues only one's own desires, and the result is the fruit of bankruptcy. “Joy”, on the other hand, flows from God. Love, joy, and peace, the three pillars of happiness in life, are fruits that can be given only when we are connected to God.

　May the Lord give us the fruit that is in Him today....

『快楽を愛する者は貧しい人となり、

　ぶどう酒や油を愛する者は富むことがない。』

　シムハーというヘブル語は、「快楽」とも「喜び」とも訳されています。でも、「快楽」と「喜び」では、その結果実る果実は大きく異なるのです。「快楽」は、自分の欲求だけを追い求め、その結果、破綻という果実が実るのです。しかし、「喜び」は、神から流れ出してくるものです。人生の幸せの三本柱である愛・喜び・平安は、神様につながっていればこそ、与えられる果実なのです。

　今日も、主にある果実が与えられますように・・・。　　

『10:6 しかし、信仰による義はこう言います。「あなたは心の中で、『だれが天に上るのか』と言ってはならない。」それはキリストを引き降ろすことです。10:7 また、「『だれが深みに下るのか』と言ってはならない。」それはキリストを死者の中から引き上げることです。10:8 では、何と言っていますか。「みことばは、あなたの近くにあり、あなたの口にあり、あなたの心にある。」これは、私たちが宣べ伝えている信仰のことばのことです。10:9 なぜなら、もしあなたの口でイエスを主と告白し、あなたの心で神はイエスを死者の中からよみがえらせたと信じるなら、あなたは救われるからです。10:10 人は心に信じて義と認められ、口で告白して救われるのです。」

お祈りします。

愛する天のお父様、み名を崇め感謝します。みことばは、あなたの近くにあり、あなたの口にあり、あなたの心にある。今日、私たちは四つの事を学びました。感謝します。謙遜に御言葉を受け入れること。御言葉を信じて告白すれば救われること。心で信じ告白すること。御言葉との交わりが必要なことです。どうか、私たちがみ言葉を心の襞に刻み付けることができますようにお導き願います。今日の礼拝を感謝し、主イエス・キリストのお名前によってお祈りします。アーメン。

「When the scoffer is punished, the simple is made wise;

　But when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.」　　Amen.

The “scoffer,” the “simple” and the “wise” are mentioned, but in the sense of the Hebrew language, the “scoffer” are those whose minds are closed. The “simple” is one whose heart is empty. The “wise” means one whose heart is wide open to God. As a result, the “scoffer” is one who does not get better even if he is punished; the “simple” is one who sees others being punished and knows that this is wrong; and the “man of wisdom” is given the wisdom to make the most of others.  

　May we be given the wisdom to make the most of others today....

『嘲る者が罰を受けると、浅はかな者が知恵を得る。

　知恵のある人が賢くなると、その人は知識を加える。』

　「嘲る者」、「浅はかな者」、「知恵のある人」が出てきますが、ヘブル語の言語の意味では、「嘲る者」は、心が閉ざされた者。「浅はかな者」は、心が空っぽの者。「知恵のある人」は、心が神に向かって大きく開かれた者という意味があるそうです。その結果、「嘲る者」は、こらしめても良くならない人、「浅はかな者」は、他人が罰を受けているのを見て、これはいけないと分かる人、そして、「知恵のある人」には、人を活かす知恵が与えられるのです。  

　今日も、人を活かす知恵が与えられますように・・・。

「The soul of the wicked desires evil;

His neighbor finds no favor in his eyes.」　　Amen.

　I am reminded of the parable of the Good Samaritan spoken by Jesus. The road from Jerusalem to Jericho was known as the “bloody road” at that time, and was frequented by robbers. A traveler was attacked by robbers and lay on the ground covered in blood. The priests and Levites who passed by him passed him by with an indifferent look on their faces. The next Samaritan who passed by felt sorry for him and took care of him. It was the Samaritan who showed compassion for his neighbor, the heart of the priest and Levite who served God and the heart of the Samaritan who was being ostracized by the Jews.

　May we be mindful of our neighbors today as well....

『悪しき者のたましいは悪事に憧れ、

その目に隣人へのあわれみはない。』

  イエス様が話された「良きサマリヤ人のたとえ」を思い出します。エルサレムからエリコまでの街道は、当時「血の街道」と言われ、強盗が多く出没していました。一人の旅人が強盗に襲われ、血だらけで倒れていました。そこへ通りかかった祭司やレビ人は知らん顔して通り過ぎていきました。次に通りかったサマリヤ人は哀れに思い、介抱してやりました。神に仕える祭司やレビ人の心とユダヤ人からのけ者にされていたサマリヤ人の心、隣人へのあわれみを示したのは、サマリヤ人の方だったのです。

　今日も、隣人へ思いを馳せることができますように・・・。

「Better to dwell in a corner of a housetop,

Than in a house shared with a contentious woman.」　Amen.

It is a warning that it is much better to live peacefully in a corner on a rooftop than to live in a nice house with a person who is always nagging and complaining. Certainly, it is better to live peacefully than to be with someone who is constantly fighting with you. Conflict and peace are both states of mind. The Lord God always pours out peace.

　May we spend today in peace of mind....

『争い好きな女と一緒に家にいるよりは、

屋上の片隅に住むほうがよい。』

口うるさく文句ばっかり言っている人と立派な家に住むよりも、屋上の片隅でも平和に暮らす方がよっぽどましであるという警告の句なのです。確かに、争いばかりで気が休まらない人と一緒にいるよりは心静かに暮らしたいものです。争いと安らぎ、共に心の中の状態です。主なる神様は、いつも平安を注いでくださるのです。

今日も、心静かに過ごせますように・・・。　

「Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,

　But the Lord weighs the hearts.」Amen.

It is important to have one's own opinions, to think of ideas, and to develop strategies. But the motive of the heart is what is important. God said that He does not look at a person's outer appearance, but looks at their heart. Mary Magdalene, who had Jesus cast out seven demons, witnessed Jesus' crucifixion, watched from afar as he was buried in the tomb, and was the first to meet Jesus at his resurrection. Mary Magdalene, who was saved by Jesus and became a new person, was always filled with gratitude and reverence for Jesus in her heart.

She was always filled with gratitude and reverence for Jesus.
