Strong to isolated severe thunderstorms and flash flooding are possible from the central Rockies into the central High Plains today. Also, hot weather will persist over much of the Gulf Coast and Deep South. Finally, elevated and critical fire weather conditions are possible the next few days from parts of southern California into portions of the southern Great Basin and Desert Southwest.

Hurricane Dorian continues to accelerate towards Nova Scotia today. Portions of coastal New England may be impacted with tropical-storm-force wind gusts, rough surf, minor coastal flooding and locally heavy rainfall, as the center of Dorian passes well offshore. Elsewhere, Heat Advisories will continue across portions of the west-central Gulf Coast states, due to increased heat and humidity.
