Y2K POP UNIVERSE episodes

  • S4 - E1 - Girls Aloud - The Show

One of the best pop albums from one of the best pop groups of all time. This is the lead single from the sophomore effort, "What Will The Neighbours Say?" from Girls Aloud and what a song!! Join me, a simple American, in 2004 as I stumble onto these girls by pure coincidence, not knowing they would becoming the most successful girl group of the 21st century.

    Songs featured:

Girls Aloud - The Show, Sound of the Underground, Jump, The Show (Live from the Ten Tour)

None of this music is owned by me...obvs.

  • S3.5 - Michelle Branch - Hotel Paper - PART 3
An extra juicy and chatty episode to celebrate the finale of HOTEL PAPER by Michelle Branch. HOTEL PAPER is Michelle's sophomore effort after "The Spirit Room" and is genuinely one of my fav albums of all time. This is the true meat of the album where the themes of love and loss are turned up to 10.

Back to covering the best in Y2KPOP, this new season extension is all about Michelle Branch's sophomore album, the iconic Hotel Paper.

In this episode, I cover the first three tracks: Are You Happy Now, Find Your Way Back and Empty Handed.

Not only did Michelle beat the sophomore slump but she came back with HITS.

  • S3 - Spice Girls - Back In Britain - Live! P1

What break? Yes, I lied. On the last episode of the series, I mentioned there would be a summer break but I'm back with a special 4 part series covering one of my favorite groups of all time. Today I am talking about the Spice Girls LIVE at Wembley Stadium in 1998 for their Back In Britain series. These last show come at the end of a tumultuous tour. Now the group is missing Geri plus there are Spice Babies in the oven! This triumphant closer of shows exemplifies why the Spice Girls are one of the greatest acts of all time.

    SPICE UP YOUR LIFE!

Parting is such sweet sorry - literally. This beautiful break up songs ends our season, but don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened.

  • S2 - E11 - Ashlee Simpson - Giving It All Away
A sort -of poignant episode about a left-field song on "Autobiography". Probably one of the heaviest track on the album, I dive in to the lyrics and try to understand - what are we giving away? Our power? Our happiness? Living in the shadow of someone else's dream? Listen now!
