Yet Another Star Wars Podcast

Pinocchio as a Jedi Droid?! Sounds fun! Anders and Colleen are back to talk about the Star Wars Visions short film T0-B1! Colleen sees the comparisons to Astro-Boy and Anders loves the lack of an explanation as to why this little droid would be so connected with The Force.

Recommendations this week include the animes Metropolis and To Your Eternity from Colleen and WALL-E from Anders (then he and Colleen disagree about how good Up is).

Wait...that lightsaber is RED!!!!! Join Colleen and Anders as they continue to make their way through Star Wars Visions with The Ninth Jedi! Both agree this short film is pretty much flawless and we need more of it (particularly more Droids taking a coffee break!). We get some great additions to Lightsaber lore in this film, and we see several anime tropes turned on their heads.

Recommendations this week include the animes Escaflowne and Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood from Colleen and Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson from Anders.

Who doesn't love a wedding? Particularly when it's so easy to get in? Anders and Colleen are heading off to the most beautifully animated planet ever and talking about The Village Bride, the animated short film from Star Wars Visions! We love those B1 Battle Droids, respect the collective and our families and give F all the props for Knighting herself!

This week in Recommendations, Colleen suggests Hayao Miyazaki’s beautiful animated films for Studio Ghibli, such as Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke. Fair warning if you go on a Studio Ghibli deep dive, Grave of the Fireflies is wonderful, but also the most devastating thing Colleen's ever seen! Anders, meanwhile, thinks its worth revisiting the early Pixar days with A Bug's Life

These podcasters might just be TWINS BORN OF THE DARK SIDE! Join Colleen and Anders as they leave for a Galaxy Far Far Away and discuss the Star Wars Visions Episode: The Twins. This short film is a ton of fun, but might just be a little over the top for us. Colleen has some thoughts on the vocal performances and Anders just wants us to stop pretending that Star Wars has to know what physics is.

This week in Recommendations, Colleen suggests checking out the over-the-top anime Outlaw Star while Anders thinks its worth revisiting Shadowhunters and The Good Son.

In all the Band Van starships in all the galaxies, Jay had to fall into this one. Join us as we rock out with the Star Wars Visions episode Tatooine Rhapsody! The Visions episode that contains the most Canon Star Wars characters also has the least to do with the Force and that's GREAT! I mean, who doesn't love a good rock concert that convinces a gangster to stay an execution? The band's duty to their chosen family is on full display!

Anime recommendations from Colleen this week are Your Lie in April and Given!

Anders recommends a couple band on the road movies like That Thing You Do and Detroit Rock City!

Who doesn't love a wandering warrior archetype? In this episode Colleen and Anders break down the first episode of Star Wars Visions: The Duel. What cultural and historical influences can we spot? What homages to other Star Wars properties were put into the film? Why aren't there more droids wearing hats?! Join us as we discuss all this and more!

Recommendations this week include Cowboy Beebop from Colleen and Batman Returns from Anders!

Colleen, Anders and Daniel can barely hold it together as they revisit the 1987 classic, gold standard for Star Wars Parody: Spaceballs. We revisit a lot of our funniest lines and scenes throughout this Mel Brooks classic, think about how it works as a parody, and decide if we’d be in for Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money.

Then, we end this run of Yet Another Star Wars Podcast with our Star Wars Movie Power Rankings.

Finally, during recommendations, Anders and Colleen are shocked by the revelation of how many amazing movies Daniel hasn’t seen!

Daniel and Anders are joined by Flo Siegel from Bohemian Geeks Studies to discuss 2018’s Solo: A Star Wars Story. We all seem to agree that the movie is fun, but Anders wishes there was less plot jammed in. Qi’ra reigns supreme in our minds, and Flo has a VERY specific scene she thinks is missing from Lando’s cape room. We all just can’t get enough of L3 and Lando, and we just want Chewbacca to stop ending up in chains!

The answer seems to be: with a wild and thrilling adventure! We discuss the incredible first installment of Disney’s “anthology” Star Wars films: Rogue One. Anders just wants to chill on a Scariff beach and Daniel thinks that the more space battles, the better. Colleen is here for ALL of the Admiral Raddus content and Sara talks K2-SO!
