Yevgeniya Baras is a painter and a cofounder of Regina Rex Gallery in Bushwick. She received a BS in fine arts and psychology and MS in education from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003 and her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007 and is now represented by Nicelle Beauchene Gallery. She received the Artadia Prize and was selected for the Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program and the MacDowell Colony residency in 2015. In 2014 she was named the recipient of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation’s Emerging Artist Prize. Her work has been reviewed in the New York Times and Art in America. Brian spoke with Yevgeniya at her studio in Bushwick about her life and work.
