" i found something funny here, greetings are basically… a personal questionnaire. Like, strangers (in first time convos) would ask me straight up: “How old are you?” Not “hi,” not “how’s your day,” just — age lol- I remember thinking, why on earth is that the first thing you want to know about me? Because obviously, if you’re asking, that means you care. That means age is a kind of measuring stick.....of course i know what's going on, i'm just pointing out the.. absurdity behind the ..normalcy? this is common right? And it doesn’t stop there. In a lot of places, greetings are body commentary. “Oh, you look thin.” “Oh, you’ve gained weight.” Like, can you imagine that being small talk? For me, it’s not just weird — it’s borderline dangerous.
[.....]
And all of this makes me wonder: why are our first questions always about things that are, honestly, surface-level? [.....] That’s what we lead with. But when you’re actually making a friend, or choosing a partner, or building trust — those aren’t the things that matter, are they? Wouldn’t it make way more sense to start with: 'are they kind? Are they trustworthy? Can they make you laugh?' (Having a sense of humour, to me, is the most important thing lol ) But nope, we start with stereotypes . And speaking of stereotypes [....]"
就是一集意识流的产出吧,questions/greetings——> stereotypes (of therapist works)——>ethics——>anonymity...

If you’ve ever wondered, “What do therapists *actually do?” — this is the part you’ll want to hear.
I chatted bout the myths vs. the reality of therapy:
- How therapy is regulated in the States and Canada, esp. a few places i've worked (Vancouver, Seattle).
- The different schools of thought (CBT, biopsychology, psychoanalysis, psychiatry).
- What my work looks like day-to-day: well, not just an hour in an office....
- (the uncomfortable truth) The gap between ethics we’re taught and the reality of practice.
- Why I still believe in therapist anonymity, even in the social media age.
- End with ...how to spot a therapist who’s truly there for you
