  • # 24 The four compartments of the mind
We discuss the four compartments of the mind, and their functions:

    Manas, Chitta, Ahamkara, Buddhi.

How can we learn to better control the mind? Are you someone who wants to spend more time in the higher mind environment?
As always Glenn provides good examples to deepen our understanding.

The reason you started yoga might be exercise, or any number of reasons, flexibility, to be in a different social environment etc.
However, the purpose, and potential of practicing yoga, is to realise the self - the relative truth, and the greater Truth.

  • # 23 The challenge of listening rather than just hearing. The ears hear, the mind listens.
When the teacher says something interesting the students become interested - and they start to listening.

The teacher’s task is to take the student’s habitually unconscious activity of the mind, and exchange it with an attentive, conscious activity of the mind. This an altered state of awareness, and the experience that come with it.

Yoga is a pause, a break from constant activity, to experience stillness. When we experience stillness often enough, it becomes a new experience, and we experience how useful it is in many life situations.

Yoga is a tool to unwind, and stabilise ourselvesquickly.

Step one, you have to accept where you are with whatever limitations. As you learn more about the practice, you then learn how to find solutions. Then you expand far beyond your imagination.

  • # 21 Stiff or flexible
Is it best to be stiff or flexible?
When we practice we are overcoming our restrictions and imbalances.

When you don’t know how much effort it takes you don’t feel as much gratitude. So, struggling is a gift in many ways.

Yoga is adaptable whether you are stiff, flexible bodytype, whether you live in a cold or hot climate, environment. It all has an influence on your practice. Develop the attitude “I will make the best out of it!” And then, you learn how to make the best of it.
