  • 35: 1905 Timeline Twist & The Chicago Teamster Riots

On today’s episode, Valerie’s 1905 Timeline Twist covers bits of the “Rush Rev” (Russian Revolution), and details an unfortunate exposition in Amy Jo’s backyard, we learn how to make Scarface’s favorite salad and some Jell-O recipes that rival the timeless Jell-O classics from the 70s! Valerie introduces one her fave art movements, born in Paris out of scandal - suck it critics! We round out the TT with Dr. Charles’ Flesh Food, a miracle product able to beautify anything it touches - even if it’s wasted. Next, Amy Jo takes us on a brief journey through America’s early 20th century labor movement, including a group of Southern farmers who united and fought back against the man in the Black Patch Tobacco Wars. She presents the founding of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW) who “changed American trade unionism forever” and details how the influx of immigrants to the US with anarchist ideals helped to form the movements of the day. Amidst this backdrop, we explore a brief timeline of the famous Chicago Teamsters Strikes of 1905.

  • 34: The Boston Area Bicentennial Bombings & the 1976 Zodiac Back

On today’s episode, we wrap up our Bicentennial year, as Valerie tells the story of the Boston Area Bicentennial Bombings - a tale about a team (or unit if you will) of ex-prisoners with an admirable cause and insanely ambitious, yet not at all well-thought-out plans, who terrorized the Boston area during the nights leading up to the city’s 1976 July 4th celebrations. Their escapades caused some serious damage, but resulted in a Dukes of Hazzard style ending when they ultimately couldn’t save themselves from themselves. Next, Amy Jo treats us to her 1976 Zodiac Back, where she tells the story of the Tehran UFO Incident (Rashomon style!), in which one version of the craft may or may not have been shooting the 1978 electronic game Simon at its targets. Then she shares some “hopeful” advice about UFOs observing humans on earth, she presents information about Mars conjunct Uranus and Algol-the Demon Star of Perseus, aka. the scariest star in the sky, touching on Algol’s place in astrology, and the amazing movie that was “Clash of the Titans”.

  • 33: 1976 Timeline Twist & The Flintville Monster

On today’s very special Bicentennial episode, Valerie’s 1976 Timeline Twist presents the innumerable United States Bicentennial activities, including cameos by Johnny Cash, President and Mrs. Ford, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip, lots of ships, tons of commemorative trinkets, and a whole lotta red, white, and blue. We discuss an extremely tone-deaf sun tan lotion ad and a learn a couple new words in the first timeline twist during our lifetimes!   Next, Amy Jo covers a thrillingly(?) terrifying story about the easily bored Flintville Monster and how he terrorized the small community of Flintville, Tennessee, with his size, appearance, smell (is that just really good weed?), and his rage for cars and their antennas. Lastly, Amy Jo touches on the origins of the Bigfoot legend, other mysteries of Flintville (is that Crispin Glover looking for his missing arm?), and the FBI investigation and findings regarding Bigfeet.

  • 32: The London Coffee House Robberies & the 1803 Zodiac Back

On today’s episode, Valerie covers the caffeinated and silly story of a mysterious young gentleman with claims of membership in the Most Ancient and Honourable Society of Bucks, who shook up the popular London coffee house scene during the early 19th century. Detailing how his undoing began when he was spotted returning to the scene of a previous crime, which prompted multiple other claims of theft, we learn how the court bent the rules to save his life. Amy Jo’s Zodiac Back presents the intricate details and somewhat mysterious lifecycles of cicadas - how do they know when to “burrow up”? Also brood cycles, cringy cicada poems, and how much the founding fathers dug (burrowed?) astrology; plus Jefferson’s quest to create an American way of calculating longitude, leaving behind the old-school method of “taking the lunars”, and lastly how longitude was key to the Louis and Clark Expedition. Mom always said don’t take your chronometer on your transcontinental journey!

  • 31: 1803 Timeline Twist & The Pandemic That Made America

On today’s episode, Valerie’s 1803 Timeline Twist presents the first practical steamboat (sans frivolity), the wild story of the first Parisian hack writer/theater critic/food critic who escaped execution during the French Revolution thanks to his dicklist contender parents, the details surrounding London’s Whitehall Balls, and a peek inside of the Lewis and Clark expedition’s medicine chest - Rush’s Thunderbolts anyone?!?! Next, Amy Jo tells the long and winding tale of Yellow-Jack, and how it shaped America, including a brief history of Yellow Fever, Benjamin Rush’s baffling theory on the disease (the remedy was NOT Rush’s Thunderbolts), a glimpse into the terrifying outbreak in New York City in the Summer of 1803, how the Haitian Revolutionaries’ knowledge of fending off Yellow Fever allowed them to defeat the French (mosquito warfare if you will) which thwarted Napoleon’s plans for America, leading to the Louisiana Purchase. It’s all connected!

  • 30: The Atrocious Murder of F. Adolphus Muir & the 1846 Zodiac Back

On today’s episode, Valerie shares the story of prominent Victorian Era Southern gentlemen ensnared in a land dispute that led to murder, including a determined relative’s search for the truth about his brother’s sudden and mysterious disappearance, and the three suspicious letters that provided the clues he needed to make his final allegations against the dastardly suspected killer. Next, Amy Jo’s 1846 Zodiac Back covers the amazing story of the discovery of Neptune, the ice giant associated with mysticism, fantasy, and dreams, introducing the clever characters involved, and the complicated mathematical feats it took them all to get there. The ZB also touches on all things Neptune, such as the 16 moons of Neptune and the first spacecraft to view it, Neptune facts, Neptune astrology, and Neptune’s generational cycle. Get to know the planet of imagination and illusion!

Next Amy Jo brings us a story about an exceptionally long-running doomsday sex cult led by Henry “Harry” James Prince, a man with an evangelical style so persuasive he converted a Catholic! (among many others), including a daring rescue, an involuntary commitment, multiple lawsuits, spiritual-wifery, illegitimate children, and the mad scramble and aftermath of a cult grappling with what to do when their immortal “beloved” did the unthinkable and died.

  • 27: 1941 Timeline Twist & The Cape Girardeau UFO Crash

On today’s episode, Valerie’s 1941 Timeline Twist presents  an astounding Lindy Hop dance clip from the 1941 musical comedy Hellzapoppin’, a failed two act operetta about famed lumberjack Paul Bunyan, how to feed a mess (hall) of people for Thanksgiving, “Over There!”, and the account of a fortuitous meeting in an L.A. pub that resulted in the Moscow Mule. Amy Jo covers the eerie story, cover up, and supposed photographic evidence of the Cape Girardeau UFO Crash in the Spring of 1941 (six years ahead of the widely famous Roswell incident) when Reverend William Huffman was called to the site of a “plane crash” to minister to the wounded and was so astonished by what he saw he “never spoke of it again” - that is until he spilled it to his family that very night.

Cholera epidemic, presents a peek into the natal chart of a major artist, and presents a NEW segment, Comet Me Bro! - all about the gorgeous comet, C/1881 K1, aka Comet Tebbutt, aka The Great Comet of 1881.
