A recent discussion at the office led to a show about that very conversation. The guys were involved with a client's request for support on managing and properly compensating a short term workforce increase which included possible stand-by hours.
Upon doing a bit more research in support of the client, what we found was both expected and frankly a little surprising. There are some things one needs to know about what California Labor Law has to say when it comes to placing an employee on stand-by.
Before you do, listen to this weeks show on the topic and steer clear of potential wage and hour claims that arise when certain procedures and guidelines are not followed.

Another "Conversation About" style show, this one is about PEO companies. The guys grab the mics and join Greg in doing some defining around PEO and it's variations known as ASO, (Administrative Services Outsourcing) HRO, (Human Resource Outsourcing) and pure payroll service offerings.
The guys get out into the weeds about Workers' Comp, EPLI, shared risk & liability and wage & hour compliance, just to get started!
From risk pools to tactical HR compliance and EDD reporting to Benefits administration, your PEO answers are likely going to be found here.
If you are an employer looking to ease the burden of ever widening compliance nets, reducing risks and lowering administrative expenses, this is the show for you.

Grab your pods! This week, the guys cover a hot-button topic that nearly all companies talk about. It's also one almost none of them get right. Why is this? Join Greg and crew and gain some perspective as our "experts" hash the topic out and even clash to a degree. In so doing, they unwittingly underscore the difficulties in the exercise.
Identification of core values is critical to defining the organizational value system and culture. Once established, they form the spine, the frame if-you-will, for every decision and direction the company takes. In an ideal situation, EVERY associate in the company knows the core values and company mission, and has committed to live them.
Pull up a chair and listen in as Greg leads this lively discussion about the importance of defining and establishing core values in your organization, and how those core values then shape both the Mission (the what, why and how), and the Vision (the future state, the overarching higher purpose) of your organization
It's an important topic for any company to contemplate New companies, established companies with a large number of employees, companies experiencing growing pains - it does not really matter. All can benefit from putting some intelectual capital to work in this area.
