BEDIUZZAMAN SAID NURSI-The great mujaddid of the 20th century and the commentator of the Qur'an for all people and religions. RISALE-I NUR Collection and WORDS
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi was born in 1876 in Eastern Turkey (the Village of Nurs) and died in 1960 in Urfa in Turkey.
The Risale-i Nur collection is a six-thousand-page commentary on the Quran written by Bediuzzaman Said Nursi in accordance with the mentality of the age. Since in our age faith and Islam have been the objects of the attacks launched in the name of so called science and logic, Bediuzaman Said Nursi therefore concentrated in the Risale-i Nur on proving the truths of faith in conformity with modern science through rational proofs and evidence, and by decribing the miraculous aspects of the Quran that relate primarily to our century. This collection now has millions of readers both in and outside of Turkey.
Bediuzzaman understood an essential cause of the decline of the Islamic world to be weakening of the very foundations of belief.
His method was to analyse both belief and unbelief and to demonstrate through clearly reasoned arguments that not only is it possible, by following the method of the Quran, to prove rationally all the truths are the only rational explanation of existance, man and the universe.
Bediuzzaman thus demonstrated in the form of easily understood stories, comparisons, explanations, and reasoned proofs that, rather than the truth of religion being incompatible with the findings of modern science, the materialist interpretation of those findings is irrational and absurd. Indeed, Bediuzzaman proved in the Risale-i Nur that science's breathtaking discoveries of the universe's functioning corroborate and reinforce the truths of religion.
The Risale-i Nur shows that true happiness is only to be found in belief and knowledge of God, both in this world and the Hereafter. And it also points out the grevious pain and unhappiness that unbelief causes man's spirit and conscience, which generally the misguided attempt to block out through heedlessness and escapism, so that anyone with any sense may take refuge in belief.
Bediuzzaman displayed an extraordinary intelligence and ability to learn from an early age, completing the normal course of Madrasa (religious school) education at the early age of fourteen, when he obtained his diploma. He became famous for both his prodigious memory and his unbeaten record in debating with other religious scholars. Another characteristic Bediuzzaman displayed from an early age was an instinctive dissatisfaction with the existing education system, which when older he formulated into comprehensive proposals for its reform.
Contrary to the practice of religious scholars at that time, Bediuzzaman himself studied and mastered almost all the physical and mathematical sciences, and later studied philosophy, for he believed that it was only in this way that Islamic theology (Kalâm) could be renewed and successfully answer the attacks to which the Qur'an and Islam were then subject.

"For You, Illness is Good Health": Said Nursi’s Advice in Time of Illness"
In a recent survey held in Europe, respondents showed a decreasing interest in “religion” but, surprisingly, a corresponding increasing interest in “spirituality.” Although this would appear to be an inconsistency, I believe that there is an explanation. However, through his spirituality, the believer is rooted in the Divine message and nourished by faithful practice and as a result has access to additional resources of God’s guidance and grace which can strengthen him to face the critical moment.
Illness and spirituality
One moment of crisis that afflicts everyone at some point in their lives, and afflicts most people more than once, and some for lengthy periods, is physical illness. Even those fortunate few who manage to pass a whole lifetime in unbroken good health must still face the multiple crises which arise from illness as they accompany and care for spouses, parents, children, friends, and relatives who have been struck with poor health. A person’s approach to this most common of human crises tells much about that person’s spirituality.
“Message for the Sick,” Nursi coins a startling paradox. “For you,” he tells the readers of the Risale-i Nur, “illness is good health, while for some of your peers good health is a sickness.”
First of all, it should be noted that Said Nursi is more concerned about what he calls “spiritual sickness” or “sickness of the spirit” than about physical illness; he is more interested in the causes of social ills than individual complaints.
He regards the identification of the weaknesses and incapacities of modern culture as one of the principal tasks of the community of his disciples, along with the presentation of Qur’anic teaching as a healing message for this world.
The sickness of the heart that Nursi sees as afflicting modern men and women is one caused by a lack of faith. It is the sense of ennui, a feeling of being without direction or hope, the incapacity to love and a conviction of the absurdity of life that afflicts those whose life is not informed by faith. Positivist materialism, belief in nothing beyond what one can see and touch, is thus a common spiritual sickness of our time.
Praying for health and illness
In one of his prayers included in the Risale-i Nur, Nursi makes such an appeal: “Forgive me my sins, O God, bear with me, and heal my ills ... Pardon all my sins, and grant me health from all sicknesses, and be pleased with me for all eternity!”
On the other hand, good health is not an absolute good. The believer can also find himself asking God to grant ills and their remedies, if that be God’s will.
“O God! Grant blessings to our master Muhammad and to the family of Muhammad, to the number of ills and their remedies; bless him and them, and grant them unending peace.” ...
He goes on to note that the prayer inspires him to see the world as a huge hospital, full of sick people, who come before God as the compassionate Healer who answers the needs of all. His spirituality leads him to understand that since both health and illness come from God, true faith consists of accepting willingly and patiently whatever God sends and placing one’s trust in God who is the healer of bodies and souls.
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate.
Those who say when afflicted by calamity: “To God do we belong and to Him is our return.”(2:156) Who gives me food and drink And when I am ill it is He Who cures me.(26:79-80)

Mevlana Celaddiin-i Rumi is a 13th century Muslim saint and Anatolian mystic known throughout the world for his exquisite poems and words of wisdom, which have been translated into many languages. Rumi, as he is known in the west, is the best selling poet in USA. The United Nations declared 2007 The Year of Rumi and celebrations were held world wide.
Mevlana was a Muslim, but not an orthodox type. His doctrine advocates unlimited tolerance, positive reasoning, goodness, charity and awareness through love. To him all religions were more or less truth. Mevlana looked with the same eye on Muslim, Jew and Christian alike. His peaceful and tolerant teachings have appealed to men of all sects and creeds. In 1958, Pope John XXIII wrote a special message saying: “In the name of the Catholic World, I bow with respect before the memory of Rumi.”
Hz. Mevlana, passed away on 17 December 1273 following a brief time on his sickbed and reached out to his Allah and his beloved prophet. and was laid to rest beside his father in Konya, in present day Turkey. Mevlevi disciples call this night Seb-i Arus (wedding night), the night of unity.
Mevlana's Works
In addition to his best-known book of verse, Masnawi, the first eighteen lines of which were written down personally and the rest dictated to his student, Chalabi Husameddin, he also wrote Divan-i Kebir; Fih-i Ma-Fi, Mecalis- i Seb’a and Mektubat.
In his books, Hz. Mevlana talks about how to be a wholesome human being: one who has inner peace and harmony, one who is both aware of and appreciates God’s blessings, one who takes a stand in the face of life’s hardships, one who is tolerant and loving.
The Mevlevi life is based on “adab and erkan” (discipline and rules of conduct). In their conduct, they are very kind, graceful, and discreet and they never go to extremes in behaviour or in speech. In salute, they place their right hand on their heart and incline their head slightly, implying “you are in my heart”. Even their handshake is peculiar to their discipline. They seize and kiss the back of each others hands, indicating mutual respect and equality. This is a greeting from ”soul to soul” and denotes equality of existence. Every part of the Mevlevi system of behavior bears a symbolical meaning, such as taking soft steps or showing respect to their daily appliances, and they can be observed in the act of the whirling dervishes in ‘Sema’ rituals, which are considered an extension of their daily lives.
Bediüzzaman Hz. nin neşrettirdiği Cevşenü'l-Kebir münacatının başında yazdığı kısa bir takdim yazısında, Cevşen'in senedi hakkında şunları söylemiştir:"Hz. Peygamber'e Cebrail'in vahiy ile getirdiği ve 'Zırhı çıkar bunu oku.' dediği, gayet yüksek ve çok kıymettar bir münacat-ı peygamberi'dir ki İmam Zeynelabidin (r.a)'den tevatürle rivayet edilmiştir."
Al-Jawshan-al-Kabir (that contains 1000 names and attributes of God) AR and EN prayers
Transmitted from the Prophet Muhammad, "Al-Jawshan-al-Kabir" (that contains 1000 names and attributes of God) prayers is one of the prayers most frequently recited by Muslims; its contents have deep meanings, its expressions are elegant, and various hadiths relate the rewards that one may receive in this world as in the hereafter for reciting it.
Our read (Arabic)Jawshan Kabeer is a long prayer that contains 1000 names and attributes of God.
Al-Kaf-ami narrates in al-Balad al-Ameen and al-Misbah that Hz. Imam Ali as-Sajjad (AS) related from his father, from his grandfather the Prophet of Allah (S) that this supplication was taught by the Angel Jibraeel (AS) to the Prophet during one of the battles Jibrael (AS) explained the greatness of this supplication which includes that whoever reads it with a pure intention the always, Allah will grant him sustenance on the Night of Power and will create for this person 70,000 Angels who will all be busy in the praising and glorification of Allah and will give this reward to the person who has read this supplication.
In addition, whoever reads this supplication three times during , Allah will make the hell-fire forbidden on him and would make it obligatory for that person to go into Paradise. For such a person, Allah will also appoint two Angels to protect that person from all evils and he would be in the protection of Allah for as long as he is alive.
Then Imam Husain ibn Ali (as) said, “My father Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) had bequeathed to me that I should memorise and protect this supplication and write it on his Kafan (burial shroud) and that I should teach it to my family and encourage them to read it as it contains 1,000 names of Allah and within these names is the Greatest Name of Allah (Ism-e-Azam).
The love of God is the essence of everything and is the purest and cleanest source of all love. Compassion and love flow to our hearts from Him. Any kind of human relation will develop in accordance with our relation to Him. Love of God is our faith our belief and our spirits in the physical body. He made us live when we did. If we are to live today it is only through him. The essence of all existence is His love and the end is an expansion of that divine love in the form of Paradise. Everything He created depends on love and He has bound His relationship with humankind to the holy pleasure of being loved.
Everything is a mirror to God
Consider the sun: from the planets to drops of water to fragments of glass and sparkling snow-flakes a radiant effect particular to the sun is apparent. If you do not accept the tiny suns apparent in these innumerable things to be the manifestations of the sun's reflection then you will have to countenance the absurdity of accepting the actual existence of a sun in each drop of water and in each fragment of glass and transparent object facing the light of the sun. If the images or reflections of the sun in drops of water and fragments of glass and various colors in flowers are not attributed to the sun then it will be necessary to accept the existence of innumerable suns in place of the one sun which is an utterly inconceivable superstition. In just the same way if everything in the universe is not attributed to One God the Absolutely All-Powerful One it will be necessary to accept in place of One God as many gods as the particles in the universe. This will mean falling to the degree of accepting a hundred-fold inconceivability.Everything is a mirror to God
God raises to life in spring and summer hundreds of thousands of species of plants and animals with complete differentiation and specification and perfect orderliness and separation amid infinite intermingling and confusion.
He 'inscribes' on the face of the earth the individual members of hundreds of thousands of different species all together without fault forgetting mistake or deficiency and in most well balanced well-proportioned well-ordered and perfect fashion. This evidently points to One of Majesty an All-Powerful One of Perfection an All-Wise One of Grace and Beauty. One who has an infinite Power all-encompassing Knowledge and a Will capable of governing the whole universe.
The content of the prayers includes the names of God, or a duʿāʾ (prayer of supplication) taken from the hadith or the QuranThe work read in this program, "Words" forms the first part of the Risale-i Nur collection, an approximately 6,000-page Qur'anic commentary. Subjects discussed are God, resurrection, prophet hood, destiny, ego, worship, and how the truth of these matters is revealed through nature.

Dhikr , in which short phrases or prayers are repeatedly recited silently within the mind or aloud.
A person who recites the Dhikr is called a ḏākir ([ZAKIRIN]
The content of the prayers includes the names of God, or a duʿāʾ (prayer of supplication) taken from the hadith or the Quran.
There are several verses in the Quran that emphasize the importance of remembering the will of God by saying phrases such as "God willing," "God knows best," and "If it is your will.' This is the basis for dhikr. Sura 18 (Al-Kahf), ayah 24 states a person who forgets to say, "God Willing," should immediately remember God by saying, "May my Lord guide me to do better next time." Other verses include sura 33 (Al-Ahzab), ayah 41, "O ye who believe! Celebrate the praises of Allah, and do this often,"and sura 13 (Ar-Ra'd), ayah 28, "They are the ones whose hearts rejoice in remembering God. Absolutely, by remembering God, the hearts rejoice."Muhammad said, 'The best [dhikr] is La ilaha illa’llah ("there is no God but God"), and the best supplicatory prayer is Al-hamdu li’llah ("praise be to God").
All theist-prayerfull- believe dhikr is one of the best ways to enter the higher level of Heaven and to glorify the Oneness of Allah.
To Sufis, dhikr is seen as a way to gain spiritual enlightenment and achieve union (visal) or annihilation (fana) in God. All theist sects endorse individual rosaries as a method of meditation, the goal of which is to obtain a feeling of peace, separation from worldly values (dunya), and, in general, strengthen Iman (faith).

Hz.
Hz. Ali Efendimizin (ra) okunmasını istediği Sekine, Allah’ın altı İsm-i Azamı olan “Ferd, Hayy, Kayyûm, Hakem, Adl, Kuddûs” isimleri ile bir münacattır. Bu dua Mecmuatü'l-Ahzabta “Kaside-i Ercûze”nin içinde geçmektedir.Bediüzzaman tarafından düzenlenen elimizdeki şekliyle “sekine“ duası, değişik yönlerden on dokuz sayısını göstermektedir. On defa Allahu Ekber (Allah en büyüktür) diye tekbir getirildikten sonra ism-i Azam olduğu rivayet edilen 6 esmadan sonra on dokuz harfli besmele ile Allah'ın on dokuz harfli altı ismine yer verilmektedir.Söz konusu on dokuz âyetin birinin harfleri de on dokuzdur
ZAKİRİN-25-VELADET-İ NEBEVİ (Süleyman Çelebi Mevlidi,İbn-i Meşiş-Abdulkadir Geylani Hz. Salavatları, Mevlana-Alvarlı Efe Hz. Kasideleri)
Bediüzzaman'a göre Mevlid-I Nebevi;
*Her fırsatta, Peygamber Efendimiz’e (aleyhissalatu vesselam) salât u selam getirmemiz O’na karşı vefamızın gereğidir.
Gel, her şekliyle kine, nefrete, düşmanlığa kilitlenmiş şu zavallı ruhların boyunlarındaki zincirleri çöz; sevgiye, merhamete, şefkate hasret giden sinelerimizi muhabbetle, hoşgörüyle coştur. Gel, ruhlarımızı aklın aydınlığı, gönüllerimizi de mantık ve muhakeme enginliğiyle buluştur ve bizi kendi içimizdeki kopukluklardan kurtar. ne olur artık ağlayan gönüllerimize acı da gel; doğ canlarımıza Yaratan aşkına, bizi yalnız bırakma; yalnız bırakıp ruhlarımızı Sensizlik ateşine yakma.
