When I was a kid, I used to play a lot of video games. In fact, it was a problem, I couldn't focus on other things. It felt like the best way to waste time. It was so much fun, but at the back of my mind, I wasn't sure I was getting anything out of it.
Fast forward to today, video games is a real industry. There was even an Esports category in the recently concluded Sea Games. I was curious about this new industry so I talked to the Starcraft II Sea Games Manager, Jess Joaustine "Jack D Reaper" Tamboboy. He's been participating in this sport for years, as a gamer and as an organizer. So when the opportunity to take part as a manager for Team Sibol, it was a no brainer.
We talked about how he got that role, how gaming is today, and how to get those opportunities in Esports.

This month at Qube: Sio Montera's homecoming exhibition entitled FINDING THE CALM IN THE CHAOS curated by Ricky Francisco. Join them for the Artist Reception on Wednesday, February 5 at 6 PM
Also on view is the exhibition VESINDAD by impressionist artist Jose Marie Picornell

Qube Gallery also presents its exclusive online anniversary show, playfully titled "Past the Seven Year Itch".
Despite this playfulness, this show recalls the past exhibitions of a no-longer fledgling art gallery. Referenced in popular culture, the "seven year itch" refers to the period of unrest that comes after trials, false starts, reboots and introspection to arrive at the realization that the question, "what next?", needs to be addressed. This show is not only a reminder of all that is good but also a commitment to stay on course, mindful of the gallery's significant contributions to the Southern Philippine contemporary art landscape.
