Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has commended the country's 15 million teachers for their contribution to China's development, to mark the National Teachers' Day which falls on September 10th each year.
In a meeting with model urban and rural teachers, Li said China's advancement in all economic and social sectors were in part thanks to teachers' hard work.
The premier urged teachers to continue helping turn China's rich human resources into "talent bonuses", encouraging innovation and creation and helping promote social justice.
He also commended the selfless dedication of rural teachers while promising more government support to provide greater rewards as well as personal elevation for those who choose to work in the countryside.
Li said governments and Party committees at all levels must not cut back on financial support for education, adding that reforms in the education sector must be deepened.

Google Play, the mobile application store, could return to the Chinese mainland as early as this month.
Google pulled its services from the mainland in 2010.
Citing information.com, a tech news site, China Daily reports that Google was working on a "special" version of Google Play for China, and the platform will be available for Android devices for sale in China.
A Beijing-based application developer was quoted by the paper as saying that Google Play will be tailored to suit the Chinese market, meaning that "the content will be subject to Chinese regulations, and video products, including movies, will not be available."
The report said as China's smart phone sales are peaking and China's demand for mobile apps continue to grow, Google needs to take a share of the country's huge smart phone market.
