In Romans 5:12, we find two very important theological concepts that are essential to our understanding of our eternal salvation: the doctrines of “federal headship” and “original sin”. Federal headship simply points us to the fact that Adam was the representative of all of his progeny when he sinned in the Garden. Original sin describes the effect of Adam’s sin upon all those he represented: his sin was imputed to all of his children, i.e., the entirety of the human race. Join us as we learn why we needed a Savior that would completely save us from our sins.

As we were reminded in the first half of this sermon, our faith-walk in this life must be predicated upon the glorious truth of God’s eternal grace! Without justification by grace in the eternal halls of heaven, we could never be justified by faith in our hearts and minds. Join us today as we continue to be reminded of the glorious truth of God’s grace, which was manifest in the finished work of His son Jesus on the cross.

Even as we understand that justification by faith occurs here and now, in our faith-walk with God, we must never forget that our justification by grace has been accomplished by Christ for all eternity! In other words, our efforts here to be justified by faith MUST be predicated upon the eternal grace of God. Join us today as we begin to look once again at our justification by grace in the halls of eternity, and the relation between that glorious truth and our faith-walk here and now.

As we began to see yesterday, Romans 5 sets forth the goal of “justification by faith,” which is peace with God in this life. But how does it work? The next three verses teach us how. In these verses, perhaps more than any other in Scripture, Paul gives us an “instruction manual” on how to implement a faith-walk that ends in being justified by faith. In facing the trials of life, if we will implement these instructions, we will find ourselves glorifying God in tribulations rather than embarrassing ourselves by having a “sky is falling” mentality. Join us as we look at this important instruction manual for our discipleship.

We have been studying the concept of “justification by faith,” as taught by Paul here in the first few chapters of his letter to the Romans. As we have seen, the goal is NOT to achieve eternal justification, but rather to obtain a closer walk with God in this life. Here in chapter 5, Paul states the goal clearly: “peace with God.” When we walk so as to be “justified by faith,” we have a peace with God that we will never experience otherwise. Join us today as we clearly see the goal of peace in our faith-walk with God.

As we saw yesterday, the promise of eternal salvation was made sure to all the elect children of God from before the foundation of the world. Part of our justification by faith involves embracing this truth in our daily faith-walk, and resting in its assurance. Join us today as we conclude this sermon that shows us the promise of God is sure to each and every one of his children.

Throughout the Book of Romans – indeed, throughout Scripture – there are “nuggets” of Scripture that we are able to examine, and from that examination see even more of the riches of God’s grace. Romans 4:16 is one of these verses. In this verse, we find the sweet assurance that the promise of God’s eternal grace is “sure to all the seed;” that is, all of those who are children of God will ultimately eternally be saved! Join us as we look at this precious truth of Scripture.

As we saw yesterday, Abraham is a great example of what it means to be “justified by faith.” This is not a concept that gains us entry into the heavenly kingdom; rather, it is a timely principle that gains us closer fellowship with God here and now! Abraham believed God’s promise about Isaac, and his faith produced peace with God that a faithless walk could never achieve. Join us today as we conclude this examination of Abraham’s hope in being justified by faith.

As we move on in the fourth chapter of Romans, we are still dealing with the concept of “justification by faith.” Paul gives us the real-life example of Abraham to demonstrate to us what it means to be “justified by faith” in our daily walk. Join us today as we begin looking at Abraham’s trust in the promise of God, even in the face of impossible earthly circumstances!

As we continue looking at justification by faith, we are learning about how to put it into practice in our lives. Today, we conclude our examination of its practical application, and we look at how far it extends. Paul tells us it doesn’t just apply to the natural Jews, but to every child of God everywhere, regardless of race or ethnicity! Join us today as we continue learning about this important principle of timely justification by faith.
