Jack and Alex get away from talking about A24 releases (but not really) this week to talk about 2019 in film overall while discovering each other's blindspots and just generally having a good time.

Jack and Alex got together to go on a trip to the theater and see the new film from the Safdie brother, UNCUT GEMS. This follow-up to GOOD TIME was near the top of both hosts' most anticipated of 2019 list and the breakneck pace of it makes for a quick and very interesting discussion of one of the most exciting release of the year. Get ready to appreciate some Adam Sandler.

After a brief hiatus for the holidays, Jack and Alex get together to talk about some more Safdie brothers shorts! Those being, John's Lonely Trip to Coney Island, Acquaintances of a Lonely John, and John's Gone. We can't even tell if there's much more of a link than the name of Benny Safdie's character in each, but they are very worth the watch. Check it out!

Alex and Jack get together this week to talk about the incredibly recent, much buzzed about film, The Farewell, directed by Lulu Wang and starring Awkwafina and Shuzhen Zhao. The movie deals majorly in tradition and the overall idea of death in ways that were fascinating without alienating the hosts and it made for a very exciting discussion.

On a loosey goosey bonus episode, Jack and Alex watch THE BLACK BALLOON, a short film from the Safdie brothers that follows a balloon floating between various groups of people in New York City

Since there isn't another Krisha episode to line up with Thanksgiving this year, this is what we've got instead of a main feed episode, who even has time for Under the Silver Lake at this time of the year?! Jack and Alex kick off a new Adjacent24 miniseries covering the earlier works of the LaMotte bros of filmmaking, the Safdies! Our journey is beginning with a faux documentary that features Benny in front of the camera in a series of stand-up comedy routines and interview segments that we had a ton of fun with.
