In an only somewhat planned out turn, Jack and Alex got together this week to talk about THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO, and movie directed by Joe Talbot and written by/starring Jimmie Fails. This is a newly rentable movie that has had a lot of people very excited, including us! Discussion goes all over the place and really talks about the importance of having your own narrative and the powers of nostalgia in regards to places or points in time. Check it out!

The boys get together to talk about the shocking, viral short film that preceded Ari Aster's A24 hits, HEREDITARY and MIDSOMMAR. This is an intensely disturbing short that had both parties pretty damn surprised and if you've seen it, which we would suggest you do before listening to this, you know that it provides a whole lot of stuff to talk about. This week, Jack and Alex get together to talk about John Cameron Mitchell's adaptation of a punk-rock based short story from Neil Gaiman. That is, HOW TO TALK TO GIRLS AT PARTIES, a movie that, while maligned, got both hosts pretty pumped up and provided a whole lot to talk about. Topics include punk-rock, Elle Fanning (the reigning queen of A24), Neil Gaiman, and much, MUCH more!

In a solo bonus episode, Jack talks a bit about LADY MACBETH, a movie that stars Florence Pugh, an actress that both hosts stated huge appreciation of for her role in MIDSOMMAR, despite being entirely unfamiliar with her acting. This marks the first in a bonus episode series that will continue next week with THE STRANGE THING ABOUT THE JOHNSONS.

Jack and Alex return to the well and get washed in the blood with help of returning guest James Pentuic. This being the second coming of FIRST REFORMED, they really dig into some meat and talk about as many aspects of Paul Schrader's 2018 crisis-of-faith of film as they can possibly pack into this long of an episode and have a good time doing it.

This movie is interesting to say the least and it provides a great opportunity to get more political than we intended to and really talk out our asses for a little bit! It's fun! 

Jack and Alex get together to talk about Andrew Haigh's sad horse movie, LEAN ON PETE. This gets into the "king and queen of independent cinema," the sad horse genre (not to be confused with Bojack Horseman), and the camerawork that made Alex faint!
