I spent five years going non-stop, and somewhere in there I stopped training my own Brazilian Zouk. Be honest, you've done it too.
Gui said it best, back from six months away: "Bro, it goes by so fast. I didn't take one single solo class. The whole six months." So Gui Prada, Adayl Iost and I get specific about how three pros actually train across a whole year, the real plan, not the resolution you drop by February.
How pros plan a training year:
→ My Australia setup: hour one solo, hour two just dance and fix nothing, hour three go deep on what sparked, hour five try something we'd never do
→ "I don't have time" is a story. It means "I won't prioritize it." If you broke a leg tomorrow, you'd find the time
→ Gui on his calendar: "if it's in the calendar, it almost becomes sacred." Blocking a Saturday means deciding not to work, not to bring bread to the table
→ The warehouse in my head: five years of packages I bought and never opened, none of it used. This year I stop and open them
→ Where it's heading: Adayl sees regional weekenders grow and big festivals shrink, one niche each. I think one social will soon play every style and we'll all switch timing on the fly
Now you're probably thinking the answer is just "train more." I thought that too. But more hours don't help when the year fills with everyone else's plans first. The fix isn't discipline, it's blocking the time first.
The big takeaway: you don't find time to train, you decide to. Block it first, defend it, and make everything else fit around it.
