A surfboard shaper since 1967, Greg Loehr worked for Dick Catri, Natural Art, Ocean Avenue, and Fox. He began making boards out of styrofoam blanks and epoxy resin in 1981, and helped create a stronger, and lighter alternative to the standard polyurethane foam/polyester resin board. In 2004, Surfing magazine named Loehr as one of the "Top Ten Shapers of All Time," noting that, because of his willingness to try new materials, "nobody's done more for the future of surfboard design."
