Hi guys! I’m thrilled to bring you today’s episode with Gabby Cohen. Gabby was the 5th employee at SoulCycle, their first hire in the marketing department, and was a really integral part of turning the brand into the household name that it is today. She has had a really amazing career, and after 8 years at Soul, went on to her role as Chief Brand Officer at Rent the Runway, and is now leading marketing for Harry’s new launch, Headquarters. We talk a lot about how good marketing and hospitality go hand in hand, what it was like in those early days, and how SoulCycle was able to effectively scale, and whether or not good press has to be bought. She also gives us some amazing tips for securing good press, and if there’s anyone I will take PR tips from, its Gabby. If you’re interested in the early story of SoulCycle, how to build a brand, or the marketing industry as a whole, you’ll want to listen to this one.
You’ll notice that the theme of retention comes up a LOT for us in this episode, so I wanted to make sure you all have access to the retention worksheets in the marketing manual I created. To download this, you can go to thefridaysocietypodcast.com/workbook, and it’ll go straight to your inbox! I hope you enjoy the episode!
