100 Words Or Less: The Podcast

A true legend is on the podcast today, Moby. You know him as the international EDM, ambient king but did you know he's got deep roots in punk/hardcore? Of course you did, well we get in deep with that as well as speaking about his new documentary called "Punk Rock Vegan Movie" which draws a straight line between punk/hardcore and the animal rights movement. We also discuss Connecticut hardcore and how he got into the whole scene in the first place, even before his first band Vatican Commandos. Watch his doc, listen to his music and listen to this pod...it's a fun one!

Internet funny person and director Stanley Sievers is on the pod this week! You have undoubtedly seen his viral clips of "Coming out of Mosh Retirement" and others flying around the internet but he also played in a cool band called Dead Icons and has a long history with our beloved DIY community. I had to have him on to talk about the intersection of comedy/punk as well as the things we learn by playing in bands that help us later on in life.

The guitarist/vocalist from my favorite LP of 2022 graces us with his presence here on the podcast today! I have Ryan Osterman from Holy Fawn who released an astonishing piece of work in 2022 in the form of their LP called "Dimensional Bleed" that if you haven't listened to...STOP listening to this and go there immediately. In any event, Ryan and I talk about his life in and around the Phoenix area, creating music to fit an electronic bed and the emotions that desert life can provoke. Enjoy the discussion, I know I did!

Drummers never get the love they should, but I am here to RECTIFY that by inviting my friend, Tucker Rule, on the podcast this week. He plays the sticks for post-hardcore legends Thursday and his newest band/supergroup L.S. Dunes. We talk about the life of an only child, having/not having a "plan B" and his time in playing with a internationally recognized boy band (The Wanted). He's a great hang and I hope this chat showcases it appropriately.

Stoked to bring on Jacob Duarte from Narrow Head on the podcast this week as we geek out over how cool of a scene Texas has, the importance of a band like Iron Age on the scene and centering his life around music. Enjoy!

Happy 2023 for you and let's start of with this legend of a human being, Todd Kowalski from Propagandhi! He also played in a great band called I Spy for those REAL heads that wanted to go back. In any event, Todd and I discussed prairie life, his political roots/upbringing and the importance of head banging. All important topics as we head into a new year.

Our favorite time of the year in which we get to reflect on our favorite music of this past year of our lord, 2022. I gather my buds Jeremy Bolm (Touche Amore, Secret Voice Records, The First Ever Podcast) and Joey Cahill (Wanna Hear It Records, 6131 Records) to discuss our music listening habits and count down to our favorite records of the year.

Let's go SLOOOWWW with Bobby Ferry from the legendary doom/stoner/metal band, 16. I think this band is really interesting as they have watched scenes come and go but kept on doing their thing and are releasing some of the best music of their career. Bobby and I discuss the skateboarding scene in the OC, the impact of Pushead on their band and drug use. It was a very interesting discussion with a person I didn't know at all, and now...we can talk about 90's hardcore as friends.

Vancouver, BC LEGEND, Kenny Lush is on the pod this week and no, legend doesn't mean old. Kenny played in Daggermouth and currently spends his time with Rest Easy (if you like Lifetime, Shook Ones etc...you will love the band). We get into it about "Easycore", the Vancouver punk/hardcore scene and his life as an independent wrestler. Take your time to get to know him, because he's well worth your time!

So happy to welcome Graham Sayle from High Vis on the podcast this week!  His band put out one of my favorite LP's from this year called "Blending" and I had to have him on the show after catching their legendary set at Outbreak Fest, so we hopped on the digital line to chat. We got into a lot of things including his very practical approach to the band, work and of course the UK hardcore scene.
