Everyone has a bank. Its name is TIME. Every morning, it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Suppose someone gave you a pen - a sealed, solid-colored pen.

假如有人送你一支笔，一支不可拆卸的单色钢笔。

You couldn't see how much ink it had. It might run dry after the first few tentative words or last just long enough to create a masterpiece (or several) that would last forever and make a difference in the scheme of things. You don't know before you begin.

里面究竟有多少墨水看不出。或许在你试探性地写上几个字后它就会枯干，或许足够用来创作一部影响深远的不朽巨著(或是几部)。而这些，在动笔前，都是无法得知的。

Under the rules of the game, you really never know. You have to take a chance! Actually, no rule of the game states you must do anything. Instead of picking up and using the pen, you could leave it on a shelf or in a drawer where it will dry up, unused.

在这个游戏规则下，你真的永远不会预知结果。你只能去碰运气!事实上，这个游戏里没有规则指定你必须要做什幺。相反，你甚至可以根本不去动用这支笔，把它扔在书架上或是抽屉里让它的墨水干枯。

But if you do decide to use it, what would you do with it? How would you play the game?

但是，如果你决定要用它的话，你会用它来做什幺呢?你将怎样来进行这个游戏呢?

Would you plan and plan before you ever wrote a word? Would your plans be so extensive that you never even got to the writing?

你会不写一个字，老是计划来计划去吗?你会不会由于计划过于宏大而来不及动笔呢?

Or would you take the pen in hand, plunge right in and just do it, struggling to keep up with the twists and turns of the torrents of words that take you where they take you?

或者你只是手里拿着笔，一头扎进去写，不停地写，艰难地随着文字汹涌的浪涛而随波逐流?

Would you write cautiously and carefully, as if the pen might run dry the next moment, or would you pretend or believe (or pretend to believe) that the pen will write forever and proceed accordingly?

你会小心谨慎的写字，好象这支笔在下一个时刻就可能会干枯;还是装做或相信这支笔能够永远写下去而信手写来呢?

This poem is about someone whom I deeply cared about. The feelings were never returned, but I learned that with or without his love, I could make it and always remain strong and happy.

这首诗是关于一个我非常关心的人。感觉再也没有回来,但我知道有或没有他的爱,我可以让它一直保持强大和快乐。

I Learn To Be Strong

我学会坚强

Words of wisdom come to my ears,

智慧之语穿过我的耳朵，

Telling me what I know in my heart,

告诉我一些我心中早已明白，

But never wanted to hear.

却不愿去相信的一番话。

With the truth finally said and out in the open for me to plainly see,

当真言终于被道出，并展现于我面前，

I wonder why I can love so deeply but never had that love returned back to me. I confessed the feelings that I held inside for so long,

使我不得不现实地面对时，我问自己为什么我会爱得如此深切，而那爱情却从未走向我。

But with his soft- hearted rejection, I realize I have to be strong.

我坦然告白埋藏于心中已久的那份情感，但在他温柔的宛然拒绝声中，我认识到我必须坚强。

With tears that want to flow from my eyes, I feel that my heart, along with my composure, slowly dies.

当眼泪欲夺眶而出时，我感觉到我的心在沉静中慢慢熄灭。

While this dramatic side is showing through with my ability to question and reason,

这时，一个坚强的声音伴随着我理智的思考再现，

I think I may have found something in me that I can believe in.

我可能已经找到我对自己的信心。

Love hurts . . .

爱情痛心…

That's what they all say, but I will love again when all this pain and sorrow goes away.

人们都这样说，但是当所有这些伤与痛消却之时，我要再次去爱。

So I sit and think of all the things this situation has cost, and I realize that nothing very important has been lost.

于是我坐下来，思考着所有这一切能带来的影响，我骤然发现原来自己并没有失去任何重要的东西。

Instead, a learning experience has come from all this. I've learned that hardly anything is more important than my happiness.

相反，我从中收获了经验和智慧，我已经明白：生活中没有任何事情比自身的快乐更重要。

In all one's lifetime it is oneself that one spends the most time being with or dealing with. But it is precisely oneself that one has the least understanding of.
人生在世，和"自己"相处最多，打交道最多，但是往往悟不透"自己"。

To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to gain a correct view of oneself and be a sober realist: aware of both one's strength and shortage. You may look forward hopefully to the future but be sure not to expect too much, for ideals can never be fully realized. You may be courageous to meet challenges, but it should be clear to you where to direct your efforts.
悟透自己，就是正确认识自己，也就是说要做一个冷静的现实主义者，既知道自己的优势，也知道自己的不足。我们可以憧憬人生，但期望值不能过高.因为在现实中，理想总是会打折扣的。可以迎接挑战，但是必须清楚自己努力的方向。

To get a thorough understanding of oneself requires doing oneself a favor when it's needed. In time of anger, do yourself a favor by giving vent to it in a quiet place so that you won't be hurt by its flames; in time of sadness, do yourself a favor by sharing it with your friends so as to change a gloomy mood into a cheerful one; in time of tiredness, do yourself a favor by getting a good sleep，and show yourself loving concern about your health and daily life.
要悟透自己，就要心疼自己。在气愤时心疼一下自己，找个僻静处散散心，宣泄宣泄，不要让那些无名之火伤身;忧伤时，要心疼一下自己，找个三五好友，诉说诉说，让感情的阴天变晴;劳累时，你要心疼一下自己，睡个好觉，为自己来一番问寒问暖。

To get a thorough understanding of oneself is to get a full control of one's life. Then one will find one's life full of color and flavor.
悟透了自己，才能把握住自己，你的生活才会有滋有味!

Of all the wonderful gifts that we've been given, one of the greatest is freedom.
在众多的我们天生被赋予的美妙礼物中，自由是最伟大的礼物之一。

As much as we may deny it we are free in this life. We are free in what we think, free in what we feel, free in what we say, and free in what we do. Yes, life may give us some very difficult circumstances at times, but we are still free in how we choose to react to them.
就如我们常常会否认这一点，我们有自由掌握自己的生活确实是不争的事实。我们可以自由地思考，自由地感受，发表自由言论，做自己想做的事。是的，有时生活会让我们处境艰难，但我们仍然可以自由选择如何应对困境。

Many people in this life deny their freedom. They sit back in their misery and blame it on their parents, or their childhood, their health, or their financial problems. They never once stand up and take responsibility for their own lives and their own happiness.
有许多人否认他们的自由。他们只是颓废地坐在那里，抱怨他们的父母，或他们的孩子，或他们的身体状况，或他们的经济危机。他们从未勇敢地站起来去为自己的生活及自己的快乐真正地负起责任来。

The truth is that we've been given the power to choose love and joy in our lives no matter what happens to us. No one has ever been or will ever be strong enough to take our freedom away from us.

Don't deny your freedom, rejoice in it, cherish it, and use it every day of your life! Remember, you are free to create the type of life you have always wanted, the choice is up to you…

When times become difficult (and you know they sometimes will), remember a moment in your life that was filled with joy and happiness. Remember how it made you feel, and you will have the strength you need to get through any trial.
当你身陷困境的时候(你有时会)，回想你生命中快乐和幸福的时刻。回想它是如何使你快乐，你便有了走出困境的勇气。

When life throws you one more obstacle than you think you can handle, remember something you achieved through perseverance and by struggling to the end. In doing so, you'll find you have the ability to overcome each obstacle brought your way.
当面对重重困难，你感觉举步维艰的时候，回想你以前是如何坚持到底战胜困难的最后时刻的。这样，你就会发现你有能力克服每个障碍。

When you find yourself drained and depleted of energy, remember to find a place of sanctuary and rest.

Take the necessary time in your own life to dream your dreams and renew your energy, so you'll be ready to face each new day.
从你的生活中多抽出点时间去梦想，重振你的精力，你会完全准备好又去迎接新的一天。

When you feel tension building, find something fun to do. You'll find that the stress you feel will dissipate and your thoughts will become clearer.
当你感觉到紧张的压力，做一些有乐趣的事吧。你会发现压力在渐渐消逝，你的想法也渐渐明朗了。

When you're faced with so many negative and draining situations, realize how minuscule problems will seem when you view your life as a whole--and remember the positive things.
当你面对重重困难的时候，要意识到相对于你的整个生命，这些难题其实是微不足道的，请铭记你生命中美好的东西。

Catch the star that holds your destiny, the one that forever twinkles within your heart. Take advantage of precious opportunities while they still sparkle before you. Always believe that your ultimate goal is attainable as long as you commit yourself to it.
追随能够改变你命运的那颗星，那颗永远在你心中闪烁的明星。当它在你面前闪耀时，抓住这宝贵的机会。请谨记，只要你坚持不懈，最终的目标总能实现。

Though barriers may sometimes stand in the way of your dreams, remember that your destiny is hiding behind them. Accept the fact that not everyone is going to approve of the choices you've made, have faith in your judgment, catch the star that twinkles in your heart, and it will lead you to your destiny's path. Follow that pathway and uncover the sweet sunrises that await you.
