A weekend with so much promise and opportunity concluded without much ado about anything. 100 Thieves scraped together a gritty win against a less-than-full-strength Evil Geniuses, only to be blown off the rift by (obvious villains how can no one else see this) Cloud9. The 100Talk dads try to piece together their fractured memories of a painful weekend and see if there are any lessons or conclusions that can be drawn from the experience. They also remind everyone that this season is not complete - Worlds looms on the horizon. Will the promise of a meta shift and some well-deserved (but likely brief) time off mean an opportunity for redemption for the 2022 Thieves? All of that and more in this week’s 100Talk.

100T’s Revenge Tour 2022 begins now. We’re grateful that tough weekends for 100T esports are increasingly rare, but we did indeed endure one as our beloved LCS boys dropped to the loser’s bracket at the hands of a hot (and PRRRROBABLY lucky) C9, and the Valorant squad suffered a similar fate against DRX in Istanbul. Still, losing can be very instructive, and this is a great time to suffer an instructive loss.
Jordan and Cole are here to pick up the pieces, and the first task is to figure out what’s broken. The dads talk about macro and objective play, weigh in on some debatable draft choices in our favorite segment Should We Play It, and correct the public record on Abbedagge vs. Jensen in our least favorite segment 100Talk Reacts to JLXP. A full charcuterie board of listener takes follows, and so do prophetic predictions for LCS Championship Weekend. Man, woman, and child, does this episode put ‘em in the aisles. It’s time for 100Talk.

100 Thieves has locked in a second consecutive Worlds appearance, their third in five years. This year came courtesy of Team Liquid doing what they usually do against us in playoffs - dragging out the series even though its outcome is already decided. Along the way, we got some incredibly memorable teamfighting, a very sad and heartfelt postgame interview with Bwipo, and a single-game montage of Closer’s Lee Sin highlights that most pros would be happy with as a representation of their entire career. This weekend was a doozy.
The dads are always here for you, and they dedicate a whopping two hours to observations about draft and playstyles, players on premium picks, the astounding performance of Ssumday on Aatrox, why fans are misinterpreting the results of this weekend’s playoff games, and just how badly 100T will beat C9 next week. And as dutiful fathers, Cole and Jordan make time for their kids - listener questions and takes are abundant. It’s another banger episode of 100Talk!

A miraculous thing happened this weekend: 100 Thieves dropped a game to FlyQuest and for once nobody gave a sermon preaching about why this means the team is a fraud. That means Jordan and Cole have less work to do on this end of regular season edition of 100Talk. The dads follow the thread of what we learned through 100T’s super week games and how the Thieves have learned to have a plan after getting punched in the mouth. They talk draft diffing quality opponents and debate which of the Thieves get All-LCS nods. And in light of the recent white-hot success of the org’s esports, discuss the winning culture that has been built at the CashApp Compound. Don’t forget - the dads always have time for their children, so listener takes and questions abound. It’s a good time to be a 100T fan, and a good time to 100Talk.

The glorious win streak continues as 100T turns in another 2-0 weekend, defeating an unpredictable Golden Guardians before avenging a first round robin loss to Cloud 9. The Thieves have been so good for so long that even analysts and pundits are starting to begrudgingly admit it. Truly miraculous times for 100T fans to live through. Jordan and Cole are here to be your spiritual guide through the end of regular season and heading into playoffs where the boys will look to secure a second LCS title and make waves at Worlds. Topics of discussion include increased aggression with Riot’s latest patch, recognizing some insane games from the likes of Abbedagge, Huhi, and FBI, and Ssumday’s sudden dark horse candidacy for league MVP. There’s also a good amount of constructing wah wah baby whining about player of the week, regular season awards, and the lack of attention given to the team at a time when they’re smashing. It’s all here in a gift-wrapped episode of 100Talk, sponsored by getthatcreditscoreupbabylikerightnow.com for the love of all things holy don’t use code 100TALK.

A 2-0 weekend is a 2-0 weekend, but not all are created equal. Good thing the 100 Thieves fanbase is a gnarled and seasoned group that won’t overreact to any uncharacteristically sloppy games, right? Right. The dads lead the family discussion on what admittedly wasn’t the cleanest set of matches from 100T, taking note of the confidence level of this team and the mental benefits of winning games when you’re not at your best. They play the new game “Should We Play It” with some of the new picks the squad brought out against Dignitas and Immortals, and talk about the ways Ssumday is both underappreciated and duly credited by the LCS community. Plus, as always, there are tons of listener takes and questions to go through of varying spice levels. It’s another fun one with Jordan and Cole.

The most convincing 100T wins come when ̶n̶o̶b̶o̶d̶y̶ the analysts don’t expect them. The Thieves smoked both the scrappy upstart NA underdog org AND Evil Geniuses this weekend, leading analysts everywhere to finally *checks notes* keep the conversation status quo…
On a serious note, this squad looks to be hitting on all cylinders as we head into the final stretch of the regular season. Jordan and Cole break down how the pieces are all starting to fall into place: high quality drafts, tight gameplay from individual players, and good meta read. The dads also dive into a short but explosive appearance from Closer on the LCS Lounge, and address point by point what the kral had to say. All of this served with the usual heaping helping of listener questions/takes, common sense from Jordan, questionable analysis from Cole, and traditional sports analogies.

100 Thieves opted to extend the LCS break an extra day and come back rested and ready for their Sunday game. The 100Talk dads are forced, however, to acknowledge that there was apparently a game played on Saturday. Cole and Jordan explain why they are not worried about the occasional slip up from the otherwise solid Thieves and why fans should be able to brush off a silly game here and there. They also talk about the emergence of the newest in CS technology, Abbedagge and a surprising Closer Poppy pick that went extremely well. Please buckle up for some complaining about why we are disrespected by analysts and broadcast though, we can’t help it.
