In 1999, Carole Sund took her daughter Juli (15) and close family friend Silvina Pelosso (16), who was visiting from Argentina, on a trip to Yosemite National Park. When the trio disappeared, it set off a huge search and initially it was feared their car slid off the road. The cold snowy weather meant fewer tourists, but it also meant increased danger. Not from the hibernating animals… it was a much more dangerous predator.
