111: Using Simon's Cat in Speech

Listen Later

A couple of weeks ago, I shared my favorite YouTube channels for using nonfiction during speech therapy sessions. Now, I am sharing my all-time favorite YouTube Channel—Simon’s Cat!

If you aren’t familiar with this channel, it is full of videos that are no more than ten minutes long. They are all black and white and share the stories and adventures of a man and his cat. So why do I love it so much? Because all of the videos are wordless!

If you know me, you know that I absolutely love using these types of resources in my speech therapy classroom. Whether it is wordless picture books or wordless videos, their benefits in a speech therapy setting are endless.

You can use wordless resources for things like body language, facial expressions,  inferencing, predicting, and summarizing—just to name a few. The sky really is the limit! These videos are short, entertaining, and so easy to use in speech therapy.

In this episode of SLP Coffee Talk, join me as I share why I love this YouTube channel so much, more benefits of using wordless resources in speech therapy, and tips and tricks for using these videos in your classroom.

There is so much fun to be had with this YouTube channel, and I am so excited to tell you all about it. I know you’ll love these activity ideas and your students will too.

Make sure to tune in so you can learn how you can start incorporating this fun resource in your speech sessions today!
