Cracking the nut of local media, the based way, with Virgil Davis Hunt of the Nashville Pamphleteer. Pamphleteer is similar to Michigan Enjoyer—filling the void where alt weeklies like Village Voice, LA Weekly, and VICE (originally Voice of Montreal) used to be. The local perspective, focused more on the culture of your physical space than the theoretical universal one that lives in your mind, is inherently anti-globalist. It is the communist-of-soul, the deranged utili-topian, who clings to to the perspective that what’s happening to people thousands of miles away is equal to what’s happening to themselves and their neighbors. Yet it is our local leaders who have the power to close our businesses, restrain our movements, and force our children to receive unwanted injections. The heart of the woke mind virus beats with the notion that that humans are interchangeable, and that it is racist and wrong for your empathy to stop at the end of your tribe. Alt weeklies, despite being historically left-coded, provided an essential bulwark against this globalized and thus atomized perspective susceptible to centralized control. It is not surprising, then, that this global regime so eagerly decimated local media, and now uses its remains as a skin suit to camouflage a proboscis tube hoovering our milkshakes back to centralized financial groups the world over. But localism, much like life, finds a way. This is the Nashville Pamphleteer.
