New motherhood brings countless first encounters, giving joy, as well as pain, new meaning. Dr. Gertrude talks with new mom, Elizabeth Turazon, about her experience of separation pain, traveling with a baby, and how to include extended family on the journey. 

Dr. Gertrude checks in with Elizabeth Turazon about what’s new in her motherhood journey as she celebrates the 10-week postpartum milestone. A new child brings many firsts to move through as parents and as individuals, and this conversation untangles some of these challenges while also highlighting the joys present along the way, and the importance of holding all parts of the adventure at once. 

Elizabeth vulnerably shares a painful experience of separation from her baby that caught her off guard and how she is planning for a long trip away from home among family with her newborn. As her baby begins to slowly do things more independently and away from her, Elizabeth questions the essence of her role as a mother, and also how she can be a good model in the face of adversity for her daughter.
