Cats can be trained just like dogs too. Most cats work well in a wildlife, free range photoshoot.
A lot of pet photography is End of Life or Rainbow Bridge photos to remember the pets after they’re gone.
Spend a lot of time around animals and get to know their body language. That will help you photograph them and communicate with them much better.
With a telephoto lens, you can have the owner close with their pet to calm them and get them into certain positions that you otherwise wouldn’t be able to. But be careful because if you shoot with too open of an aperture, the entire face may not be completely in focus.
Photoshop is your friend for cleaning up collars and harnesses, and also the possible people in your background.
