Today’s conversation is with Thomas Erikson, Author, Motivator, and Lecturer.

His book Surrounded by Idiots is one of the world’s best-selling non-fiction books and has been translated into over 40 languages. Thomas has devoted over 20 years of his career to helping people communicate with each other, and along the way he’s developed practical and functional tools that facilitate both professional and private life.

Thomas is convinced you will reach your goals more easily if you improve your understanding of communication and your surroundings. He utilises the DISC-model to highlight different behaviours, where different archetypes of demeanour and communication are categorised as red, green, yellow or blue.

Expect to learn about these different communications styles, how they shape our personalities, how each of the colours behave, listen, communicate, make decisions and more.

I ask Thomas about the combinations that we see across society, what job roles tend to favour which colours, and the drivers that sit behind the colour preferences.

When it comes to team building or working with others, it’s vital we have self awareness of our own personality types but also know how to recognise someone else’s and manage your style to both get the best outcomes.

I loved learning about the different personality traits and I even share my own test results during this conversation as well as exploring the areas that Thomas has worked on himself personally to bring to life how this knowledge and information can be applied.
