144: Vulnerability: Why is this such a buzzword right now?

One of the biggest buzzwords I see floating around is vulnerability.⁣

When I got into the online space almost a decade ago it was at a moment in my life where I felt most vulnerable.⁣

But I had never shown vulnerability in my life.⁣

And many of us don’t want to discuss shame or vulnerability. That’s because we just want to be bottom-lined: “Just tell me what to do.”⁣

There’s no bypassing vulnerability.⁣

This fake, discounted vulnerability that’s out there has skewed what doing some of this work on ourselves really means. ⁣

A decade ago when I decided to change careers, it was at a time when I had already hit rock bottom.⁣

I was just starting to come up from ground zero and was sharing vulnerable things. In rehab, where I discovered what real vulnerability was, I was given the book The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown. This book taught me the difference between mindset and vulnerability.⁣
