146: Life is Too Short: When this cliche becomes personal

Listen Later

There’s one phrase that’s such a cliche, until you realize it applies to you.⁣

The whole catalyst to me deciding to take action and turn my life around a decade ago was this very cliche: life is too short.⁣

Listen now⁣

We throw this phrase around pretty innocently...⁣

But this last week, in the course of 72 hours, I lost three friends. Not just acquaintances, but people who’ve had a huge impact on my life.⁣

Their passing was sudden, tragic, and innocent.⁣

And left a lot of people behind asking why. It’s when tragedies like this happen that shit gets put into perspective real quick. ⁣

Life is a constant moving target and just when you think you got this shit figured out, things change.⁣

My dad used to tell me, “There are two things you can count on Trace, taxes and change.”⁣

Although these three beautiful people from my life left this earth far too soon, I know that in their death, there are lessons we can all learn.⁣

When we’re experiencing tragedy, grief, and loss, different things about ourselves get exposed—we learn very quickly how strong we are, how much more work we have to do, where we have blind spots, and more.⁣
