I had actually been trying to get Colin Lyons on for some time to talk about athlete’s mental performance training, so it’s fortuitous to get him right at the time that they’re calling these the Mental Health Olympics following Simone Biles’ well-documented travails with the so-called twisties.  Colin was a middling high school and collegiate runner but has found his niche in helping athletes develop their mental focus, find personal excellence, and  achieve their goals.  He breaks it down to TAPE, an acronym for the four controllables: trust, attitude, preparation, and effort. Colin is also a high school track and cross country coach at Castle View High School in Castle Rock, CO.  You will find this conversation interesting and useful whether or not you are an athlete trying to elevate your game on the race course, the court or fields, or in the office.
