18 - being kind to yourself has an important role in recovery

Changing your inner dialogue and how you talk to and treat yourself. There were three areas that were really important for me to change my language towards myself.

1. How I treated and talked to my pain. Talk to your pain and listen to it. (frustrated with it, angry with it, try to get rid of it)

2. How I talk to and about myself as a person. The things I believed about myself needed to change. Value, intelligence, capability. Start treating yourself with the truth about what God says about us, and to see ourselves in that light. Own and claim the identity that God has given you.

3. How I treated my journey of healing. It is not helpful to put yourself on a timeline for healing. Instead choosing to be kind and patient with yourself in the healing process.
