Tests and the Rest: College Admissions Podcast

185. Incorporating Test Prep Into The High School Classroom

Listen Later

While teachers generally want students to be ready for the quizzes, exams, and finals associated with their curriculum, most shy away from focusing on state or national assessments. Too bad, really, when school is the perfect place to prepare for any test. Amy and Mike invited educator Laura Link to extol the virtues of incorporating test prep into the high school classroom.

What are five things you will learn in this episode?

  1. How can educators reconcile readiness standards and state or district standards?
  2. When is teaching to the test considered a good thing?
  3. How can teachers gain needed familiarity in the SAT & ACT?
  4. What are practical ways to incorporate test prep without stealing time from your core curriculum?
  5. In what ways do students benefit when their teachers incorporate test material into classroom instruction?
