This week Dr. Kreso and Dr. Rachelle's son Ari started Montessori full time. As it turned out, Ari was not quite ready to be away from his mom for such a long period of time, so Kreso and Rachelle decided that the right thing to do would be to focus on half days only. Why should you care about that? Our intuition is telling us that sometimes we (ourselves included) put a short term vision for our children ahead of the long term goals we have for them. Sometimes it's easy to substitute what you want for your kids future for what they can handle in that moment. There is no judgment with that statement - in fact, we are making it from experience. It's easy to get caught up with what others are doing and how quickly some kids develop vs. other kids. We feel like it's important to never compare kids but to keep our eyes on the long term prize.
The purpose of this episode is to take a step back from the 'parenting game' and make sure we are keeping the end goal in mind. What we cover: - What, in our opinion, is the purpose of parenting and what we really dislike about today's parenting trends. There are just some trends these days that are wrong and we need to talk about them.
- Why the long game is far more important than the short game, yet it seems like most parents are concerned with short term success over the long term gain.
- Why self-esteem and creating a winning inner state is really where long term success is at and how we think you can do that.
