Gospel of Matthew 25:1-13 relates Jesus' teachings of the Parable of the Ten Virgins comparing the kingdom of heaven to bridesmaids waiting for a bridegroom. Five virgins were wise and had extra oil for their lamps, while five were foolish and ran out of oil. When the bridegroom arrived late, the foolish virgins went to buy more oil and missed the wedding, while the wise virgins were welcomed in. The parable teaches that people should always be prepared and watchful for the coming of Christ.
