The Fifth of November 1605 Jesuit Treason Plot was an assassination attempt against King James by a group of provincial English Catholics  who sought to restore the Catholic monarchy to England and end religious persecution against the Catholic resistance— which would have severely altered the course of faith and religion in the future British Empire, including America.
