My perception of what is happening in academia is unfortunate. 

 

I have friends who have chosen to leave their teaching career earlier than they had ever thought. My friends who have children in school at all grade levels tell me how miserable their kids are, and they feel like they aren’t learning what is needed for a healthy, thriving future.   

I see so many friends at their wit's end and unsure of what to do. 

 

Today my guest and I will speak about this current academic situation many are facing; she sees it as an opportunity to change education in a way that takes the "sit down, shut up, and do what you're told" out and bring joy back into learning. 

 

About Kristy Boyd Johnson:

Kristy is a 30-year veteran teacher with an extensive and varied teaching background. Besides teaching within the school system, she tutored kids with learning differences, advocated for them, and homeschooled individuals and groups. 

 

As it has been for many teachers on the front lines, being part of the school system was an ordeal for Kristy. By witnessing the successes and failures, she envisioned a paradigm shift that would benefit the students, parents, and teachers everywhere.
