We’ve all made mistakes in life. Some are relatively harmless but when it comes to high-value transactions such as investing in property, the stakes are higher. So this time on The Property Couch podcast, Bryce Holdaway and Ben Kingsley list out a few common mistakes that they’ve seen people make in their investment journey.

The first mistake is underestimating the importance of having a good lending strategy and structure. One investment property will not be sufficient to provide you with a self-funded retirement so in time, you will need to buy another one and if you messed up your lending structure from the start, you might not be able to achieve your full potential in your portfolio. One of the common regrets that Bryce and Ben have heard before is the investor’s drive to look for lenders that offer them the least interest payable has clouded their decision for better borrowing power and eventually, a better asset.
