    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]
Servizio alla cittadinanza oggi tramite 3 minuti grezzi perché, udite! Udite!

    TRANSLATION
Service to the citizenry today through my 3 raw minutes, hear ! Hear ! I will tell you where you can find that thing you lost. No matter what it is, no matter where you have lost it, I will tell you exactly where you can find it. You will find it in the last place you look while searching.

Yes, I read this bright idea somewhere, I don't know when anymore, I remember the title of the article 'here's how to find the things you lost'. There was a list where they explained how to find a lost thing.

In the first place I think there was 'remember where you were when you last used it.' Oh, really? I had gotten there too! No, actually there was a little bit of advice, more about taking your mind off it, not to think about it. And then there was precisely the revelation that the last place we look is the place where the thing is.

But that doesn't mean we can skip intermediate steps and go straight to the last place to look directly there, of course that after we find the thing we stop looking for it!

When I lose something I search first in the pockets, because I rarely use bags, then in the backpack that I use when I carry my computer, then when I can't find it in the pockets of all the various jackets, coats, etc., pants and in the bags, then the frantic search begins in the places where the thing is definitely not.

I am not saying that I look inside the oven and inside the refrigerator, however, I look in the places where I know surely the thing has never passed, not even close.

And I have to say that even when I don't find things right away, I don't despair because I have had experiences of items desperately searched for, bought again because I couldn't find them and then found them instead.

It happened to me like that with a pair of headphones, actually quite expensive, the kind that don't transmit sound through the ear, but transmit it directly to the bone that's in the head, in short, a little bit of a peculiar thing, headphones that I paid more than 100€ and that I couldn't find anywhere, I was looking for them for a long, long, long, long, long time. Then, because I needed them, I repurchased them, and after I had repurchased them for a while, while I was changing the closet, I put the comforter of the bed inside one of those plastic bags where you then take the thing off with the vacuum cleaner, while I was taking this little plastic bag I realised that for some reason the headphones had gone in there. I could have searched them for ever.

So I also have hope to find my pen that I misplaced and cannot find.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 506 Cantare a bracciate
Buffissimo!

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

When I say 'I've seen this on television,' although I don't usually specify it, almost always, I'm referring not to generalist television, but to the pay channels, so Netflix, Prime, Disney, and Apple, at the moment we have all four, then from time to time we cancel one or the other when a series we're following ends and it's no longer worth continuing to pay.

But sometimes I also end up on the real television, the generalist television, especially when I've exhausted all the things I want to watch but I still don't want to go to bed, so I take a ride on the normal televisions, on the free-to-air channels, and I always end up on this channel that, I don't know where it comes from, I don't even know who broadcasts, but at that late hour of the night, when I get it, there are always these people who look like they're in a television studio and they're singing songs... melodic? I don't know about music, especially not about this music, it's definitely music that I don't like, with a lot of accordions.

Yes, the thing that fascinates me is that they are all pulled together, both the audience, quite old, and the people singing. And the type of people singing is interesting, there are women, there is often a woman who is hosting, a lady of a certain age, probably 60 years old, all dolled up, which reminds me very much of the ladies in the Italian clubs that I used to see when I lived in Australia.
I used to run into the ladies of the clubs who were all dolled up, these matrons in these dresses, in veils with their hands bejeweled, in short making a great impression.

And there are also gentlemen, a few gentlemen of a certain age. And instead, there are many young men who often play, yes, they are always instrumentalists, and some of them even sing.

The funny thing is that in this program, where there are these people singing, the singers go out of their way to demonstrate with gestures the meaning of their songs. So whenever they say 'I send you a kiss,' they make the hand gesture of sending the kiss. When they talk about a beautiful view, they make a wide gesture with their arm, as if to see, to show the view. When they say 'I give you anything' they really give with the hands. They seem to do pantomimes, and I don't know why they do it, because it's funny, it almost seems like they don't believe that the audience is able to understand the lyrics, very profound, of their song, unless they make these broad acting gestures.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 505 E brava Nike!
Favorevolmente.

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION
The other day I wanted can do some physical activity at home, but for some reason the Wii Balance Board, I couldn't get it to work, I don't know if it was a problem with the battery, anyway I remembered that I had seen on Netflix a series of programs, with the different duration, 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes and so on, where Nike was offering small physical activity routines, small trainings.

So I turned on Netflix and started looking, I looked for a 30-minute one, because that was more or less the kind of physical activity I needed, I moved the couch, put on a mat on the floor and started exercising.

Um, it was an interesting thing because there were some elements that struck me. So, the first thing that struck me was the instructor.

There is the instructor talking to you, explaining exactly how to do the exercises, and behind her then there was another guy performing the exercises, also with variations. What was special about this instructor was that she was not a woman who, instead of abs, has a surfboard where you can bounce on it, so tight that it looks like a drum, but she was a woman who looked like, hear hear, a normal person.

She had one of those tops that let you see a few inches of belly, and she also had something in it that actually looked like the belly of a human being. So that was the first thing that struck me favorably, that she was not one of these ... Then she also had nice strong arms, in short she looked like a normal person that I might have met on the street.

Another thing that struck me favorably is the positive language used by the instructor while she was explaining the exercises to be done, she was using words that are not usually used, she was saying, here hold your chest up now proud, (you know in English there is no distinction between masculine and feminine, lucky you) so she was using all these terms be proud, up with pride, you are strong, but it wasn't even strong the word she was using, anyway, I don't remember now exactly, I didn't take note because I was there sweating, but I remember it struck me the kind of incitement she was giving, she wasn't saying you are beautiful, you are thin, you are ... No, she was saying things that were much more, I won't say spiritual however more conceptual and more, really things that people would like to be. So bravo Nike, keep proving things done a certain way.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 504 Routine

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

Ok?

    TRANSLATION

I guess I get too conditioned by routines, in the sense that I create routines in the day, then if I deviate by a few minutes I have a hard time catching up.

So this morning instead of getting up at the crack of dawn, no, not at the crack of dawn, however let's say just before seven in the morning, because last night I stayed up watching things on tv, a few weeks ago I did an episode of this podcast, what was it called ? The revenge of staying up at night instead of going to sleep when you know that anyway you should go to sleep because tomorrow you pay for it, and this morning I paid for it and so instead of getting up I stayed there snoozing, you know what happens then when you should get up, so it's not night anymore, and you get this sleepy bump that you sink, very vivid dreams, then you open your eyes again and you think it's been five minutes and instead it's been three quarters of an hour.

And so the morning went a little bit down and I find myself almost at, I won't say mid-morning, however it's now past 9:30, usually by this time, since I've done the 3 minutes podcast, I've assembled everything, I've uploaded everything because you know assembly there is none. Instead I'm still here twiddling my thumbs and thinking, what am I talking about?

Here, I wanted to talk about routines, that is, this slavery that if things don't start at the right time, just as it demands, it asks me to do my routine, then I fall a little bit behind, and the more I fall behind, instead of a nice little thrust of the back to catch up, saying whatever, now tabula rasa, now let's start the day full of energy, and instead the whole day then happens at the pace of this dragging.

I shower later, get dressed later, do things later, everything becomes later and the more I do things later, the more I regret doing things late, because instead I like to do things nice, fast, peppy and dynamic.

Yes, there are about 30 seconds left until the end of the 3 unedited minutes, and even in the execution of these 3 minutes you will notice that the energy is a bit low. But I promise that as soon as I'm done, I'll close everything up, upload everything and then go for a nice walk, breathe some fresh air and hopefully get back the energy I need to get through the day and do a lot of good things. Okay?

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION
Listening to a podcast about the lives of gorillas, I remembered an incident from when my son was very young. The thing about the gorillas is this: gorillas have a gestation of eight and a half months, so very, very close to the gestation of women and humans and they stay, they sleep together with the baby, the baby gorilla, they keep it attached, now I don't know if they breastfeed it, however until they are three years old they always keep it attached on them.

This reminded me of an episode that happened when my son was very young, when I... my son was born in Australia, I was alone with my husband, there was no mother, grandmother, aunt, not even friends who had young children, so I was kind of left to myself as far as reassurances and different theories about how, what to do when there is a newborn at home, and my son did cry, so the night I did, I was picking him up.

Now, in Australia there is this school of thought, which is an American school of thought, that of controlled crying, that is the controlled crying which says: when the baby cries and you go and pick them up, you are getting them used to the fact that crying is a way of calling you and getting you there, so if you want them to stop crying, especially at night when they wakes up, you don't go and the baby will learn to go back to sleep on their own and solve all your problems.

The thing hadn't convinced me much, in fact I had not even tried to do it because it did not feel natural, also because, you try to fall asleep when there is the baby crying.

And so, because I'm a bit of a precise person, I set out to do my research and, as the case may be, right in those days in Melbourne there was a conference, I can't remember what it was about, on childhood, on psych, maybe it was on psychology, anyway there was a talk by a luminary who was also going to talk about controlled crying, so I rushed to this conference and basically this gentleman said, but are you guys bananas? Do you know that gorillas, apes hold babies and go and calm them down when they cry? Are you bananas? Forget these American extravagance!
I liked it so much that at the end of the lecture I went to talk to the luminary, told him that I was a new mother, I was in doubt whether to take this approach or not, and he said, an Italian mom? Are you for real? Oh please, go and take your son and you hug and console him, that the only thing you are teaching the child, when you don't go when he cries, is that you can cry all you want there is no one coming to save you, there is no one who is here with you, you are alone in the world. Do what your mother's heart tells you, that's the right thing.
And it did work out ok.

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

Boh, che ne so?

    TRANSLATION

I had a friend who told me once, you know when I meet a new person to figure out if I like this person or what kind of person they are, I ask if they have seen the movie Black Cat White Cat by Kusturica and according to the answer I figure out what kind of person they are. This was his way of judging new friendships, a somewhat strange way.

It also reminded me of a friend of mine, from another part of the world, who instead had told me that after seeing the movie Un cuento chino, I don't know how to pronounce it in Spanish, that in Italian it's translated, Piovono cose dal cielo, I think something like that, [in English 'Chinese takeway'] she always made all her friends watch it, because according to her it was such a good movie that you always have to see it together and she had already seen it, I don't know dozens of times, by the way we had also seen it together.

It is a strange attitude this towards movies, so to take a movie as an expression of what we like or what we believe in and even as a term of comparison, as a sieve to see which people we like and that is from the reaction. It's also kind of a dangerous thing, I think, because personally I go by periods, there are periods when ... It's like with books: what's your favorite book? IDK, what do I know? It depends on what I just read and what I liked.

And also with movies. There are some movies that leave me, make a big impact on me as soon as I see them, but then it's not like they stay with me for years and years, for decades. And instead then instead there are some other movies that stay with me, even though maybe in the moment when I saw them they didn't have that emotional impact.

Then what is the emotional impact of a movie? A movie that makes you cry? A movie that makes you laugh? Movies that provoke laughter, just good belly laughter, it's been a very long time since I've seen any, in fact really I can't even remember what was the last movie I saw that made me laugh ahahahahahahah as they say, to tears. Crying, I don't usually cry at the movies I'm not moved. So no, usually the movies that strike me are the ones that disturb me, the ones that make me think, the ones that then come back to me, maybe at night when I can't sleep, maybe they come back to me with images that I didn't quite understand.

Here, are the movies that I like are the ones that I don't really understand and I keep processing month after month, year after year. But I don't think I would ever use a movie to see the reactions of friends and decide on our friendship.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 501 Palazzi poco invitanti

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

I don't know if you've noticed, but there are certain buildings that when you pass by, they entice people to stop and maybe even go inside, while there are others that not only don't entice people to go inside, but really seem to want to say go ahead, don't even try to look through the glass, we don't want you to go inside.

This is what I think every time I pass in front of the Sardinian Regional Palace. The Palace of the Region located on Rome Street, one of the main streets, it is a very modern building, in short very modern, no let me correct myself, it is a building from the 1970s, maybe 1980s, however it is not old, and it is ugly it is ugly.

The door is made up of these black panes, so you can't see what's inside and all around, at street level, on the ground floor, it's all a succession of big panes of glass and you can't see what's inside. You see, every time I pass in front of the building of the Sardinian Region I think, but look at this, how they built it, of course it doesn't entice you to feel part of active citizenship, it doesn't entice you to go inside, to talk to the councillors, to the people who work here. And then I say to myself, or rather I ask myself the question and give myself the answer, that probably architecture is just the icing on the cake, because the people who work at the regional government don't give a damn about inviting the public in.

Now, I don't want to pick specifically on Sardinian politicians, although I would love to pick specifically on Sardinian politicians, but let's say, the term of comparison I have is with Australian politicians and there every city council is not only open to the public, and you can visit at office hours like in any office, from nine to five, to the political representative of your neighborhood, of your municipality, you can go and talk to them and expose what are your concerns, your problems, but also the sessions are public, I'm sure that also in the Sardinian regional council sittings are public, although I've never been interested in them, but they are definitely not experienced, the citizenry doesn't come, we're not invited, they don't tell us come so we can talk about it.

I don't know if things would be different if we could actually exercise active citizenship. For now I walk past the regional council building to find that I do not see what is going on inside.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 500 Per i turisti?

    TRANSLATION

I don't resent tourists. As a general rule, I never resent a category out of partisanship. But it bothers me very much an attitude that I often see from the people in my city, from the people in Cagliari, and that is whenever there are streets full of garbage, and sometimes it happens, or when there is some ugliness or when the city administration doesn't repair the streets, doesn't do what it should do, unfortunately it happens quite often, then in the newspapers, both journalists and people commenting, they start by saying ah, and what will tourist think of it?

And that makes me very angry because I think that primarily, fundamentally the city is first of all for the people who live in the city, for the people who have invested something to live in that city. And I'm not talking about investing money, buying apartments or whatever. I am really talking about the fact that those people live there and contribute to the society there, to the fact that services are used, that there is a certain kind of environment, that they have their family, their friends.

Well, let's stop thinking conceiving of the city as just tourist-friendly, because tourists come and go, and they often leave behind garbage, in fact I don't like the people on big cruise ships that are said, IDK, to bring who knows what wealth. When I see them passing through the historic center, they remind me of the swarms of locusts, which unfortunately are another big problem we have here in Sardinia.

Yes, I don't like this lumping together, these masses of people moving, with these giant boats, going from port to port. I remember I saw this terrible thing in Venice, where I had gone to see the Biennale, not in a group, alone, with my husband, and I remember this giant ship, before they banned giant ships from entering Venice, that arrived early in the morning, and I saw it because we were already there at 6 o'clock in the morning, and the same ship then departed, I don't know, at five o'clock in the afternoon. There, those people had been in Venice a handful of hours and could go home and say, ah, I've been to Venice! But where have you been? But where have you been?

Here, I am bothered by this attitude of people who want the city made nice and clean for tourists. No, make a nice city for you who live there, it's your right and it sucks, these tourists, and that's it.
I mean whatever, sorry, I got a little carried away. I too sometimes go to other countries, but I try to remain practically invisible, not to be as visible as the masses of tourists.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 499 Feste strane

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION

I don't know why, but certain countries celebrate holidays differently in the sense that they have a whole series of actions and traditions that are not found elsewhere. I'm thinking of Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, but also the whole ritual behind it, getting officially engaged, asking for the hand of the bride, because usually these holidays are observed by following very, very traditional roles.

For example, when I lived in Australia, around the time of Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, etc., not only were all the stores and all the businesses decorated to remind people that the holiday was coming, you could also buy a lot of things, especially greeting cards.

In Australia you go into any store that sells postcards, any stationery store, there are rows and rows and rows, whole walls full of postcards for all occasions, for all things possible and imaginable, now don't think of those happy birthday cards, happy easter, happy Christmas, those, of course it doesn't even need to be said, but a whole series of postcards for occasions that IDK, I couldn't find anywhere else, for example postcards for wishing you a happy birthday when I forgot to wish your birthday, on your birth-day, or postcards for wishing I don't know, that you find the dog you lost. In short, you think the reason to buy a postcard, to celebrate something and you can buy it.

Especially in the celebration of those holidays that are not holidays but marketing inventions to make people spend money, and among all of them at the top is Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, they are a market, they are an incredible triumph of the useless, and above all they give a chance to those who for the rest of the year ignore Mom, doesn't even give a call, or treats the boyfriend or girlfriend very badly, gives a chance to make up for it by buying a prepackaged package with all the little hearts, with all the little flowers, so for another year they got it out of the way.

I remember watching in amazement especially the brunch, which is a kind of breakfast made late, or a lunch made a little bit earlier, when everyone would go to the nursing homes to pick up their moms, locked up there, to take them to have lunch from Mother's Day, and then go and lock them up inside the nursing homes and forget about them for the rest of the year.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 498 Io e i videogiochi

    TRASCRIZIONE [Eng translation below]

Devo finire qua. Metto tutti i link.

    TRANSLATION

My relationship with video games is a bit peculiar in the sense that I like video games a lot, I like to read about video games, I also like to sometimes buy and download video games, however, I don't like to play them that much.

I'm not particularly good at it, I don't like shooter video games, I don't like the ones that are too complicated, where there are stories that last too long. I like the ones that are, shall we say, more basic.

My all-time favorite video game is The Stanley Parable, where a guy is in the office one morning and discovers that there's nobody in the office, he's the only person, so he starts wandering around the rooms, the various rooms in the office, trying to find out what happened. The amazing thing about The Stanley Parable, so far in my opinion still no one has been able to do something soamazing, is that as you play the game, you hear the voice of the narrator speaking right to you, personally, and commenting on the choices you make. The narrator guides you, tells you turn right, turn left, gives you advice, and then, depending on how you behave, whether or not you follow his advice, he scrambles you, bullies you, compliments you, makes fun of you. Let's say that very often he makes fun of you, he is terribly ironic.

And it's beautiful this game because it has a number, IDK, I can't remember how many 30, 40 different possible endings, so as you play you have the impression that it's an infinite game, because infinite you think are your possibilities to choose this or that door, this or that corridor, to jump or not to jump, to discover or not to discover, and so on. So I like The Stanley Parable very much because it's a meta game, it's not a, let's say, traditional game.

Another game I really like is Papers, Please, and I've played it quite a bit here as well. It's a very depressing game, though, because you play the part of a border guard in a country that looks like the former Democratic Germany, or at any rate an East Block country, and you have to decide whether or not to let people through who tell you their stories, cry, sometimes tell you lies, you have to check that their papers are okay, and so on. And if you let someone pass who then instead didn't have the right to access, they take money from your paycheck, so you starve, so it's also beautiful because it has a resolution, a very vintage very old look.

Yes, there are games that I like, which however are very particular games, sometimes very literary, there is one inspired by a short story by Italo Calvino, however I am running out of my 3 daily minutes. I have to finish here. I write you all the links.
