  • 3' grezzi Ep. 368 Gorillaz

    TRANSLATION
Well, actually going to a concert today often means seeing a lot of people who instead of watching what is happening on stage, are looking at their cell phones, making videos and taking photographs. And in fact there are several artists who expressly ask that people not use their cell phones during the concert. Then there are the Gorillaz.

I don't know much about music, but I know Gorillaz because they are not a real musical group, but a virtual group created in the late 90s by a cartoonist and a musician, multi-instrumentalist and singer. (I'll put the link in the podcast notes so if you're interested you can check it out). Why am I talking about Gorillaz? Not particularly for their music, but for what they did a few weeks ago, around Christmas, with these two virtual concerts they did in New York, in Times Square and then in London, in Piccadilly Circus. What is so special about these concerts that I'm talking about them, while I'm not interested in music and I'm not particularly knowledgeable either?

Because these two concerts were entirely virtual, that is, people flocked to Times Square in New York and Piccadilly Circus in London, and followed the concert via their mobile phones. The Gorillaz group, in fact, is very technological and has always made great mingling, great gimmicks - not just for advertising because there is also actual content - using technology, and people could follow the concert by looking through their screen of the cell phone.

What have they done? They have made a connection between Google maps, which are available to everyone from any mobile phone (which I use to navigate the city, as many other people do) with a new technology that I won't tell you about because I don't understand it, but what happened? It happened that people were able to follow the concert in augmented reality. That is, you imagine, you have your cell phone in your hand, you frame a road and there, in the road, you see these gigantic characters appear. I saw the video because I wasn't there and it really feels like being inside a Japanese cartoon. It's a fantastic thing, to be there in person must have been an incredible thing.

I experienced this feeling of augmented virtual reality a little when the Pokemon Go game came out, I think it was 2016 and at the time I was still living in Melbourne and I remember several trips I made to get home from work, where all the subway it was full of people playing Pokemon Go.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 367 Propositi (buoni)

    TRANSLATION
Raise your hand if you have used the beginning of the new year to make a list of good intentions. You don't see me, but I'm not raising my hand because I don't like making lists of good intentions. I'm a bit superstitious, I always think that if I make a list and propose to do something, then something megagalactic will happen that will prevent me from doing it. But let's use this first week of January, after the start of the new year, to see how to use our desires to actually improve our level of happiness. Because then this is always about, we want to be happier and it is our right to be happy. The problem with lists of good resolutions is that we often make them all in the negative: I don't smoke anymore, I quit smoking, I stop eating sweets, I won't stay up late watching TV anymore, I don't... I can't think of any other thing to say to the negative, but you understand what I mean. Here, since psychology helps us (there are many psychology studies that explain how the words used to formulate a problem impact on the way we relate to the problem), then why instead of making these very long lists of good intentions, all in the negative, that when we see them we only see the sacrifices we have to make - don't stay up late watching Netflix series - yes but I love it, once I'm sitting there on the couch I can't stand up and go to sleep, even though it's already two in the morning and I know I am going to feel terrible in the morning. Well, let's make positive lists instead, that is, putting things in them that help us feel good but without using negative words and therefore playing psychological tricks so that our brain does not realize that we are actually making a list of good intentions. For example, we might have one thing on our list that says 'I want to be more creative'. Well, this year I want to be more creative. And I know that not everyone is a brush or watercolor wizard and that it's hard to start doing something you've never done before at a certain age. But being creative also means buying one of those coloring books and buying a case of colored pencils, a pencil sharpener and coloring. Here, think about this: You can do something like this. Be more creative, but without exaggerating, without wanting to paint the Mona Lisa. Small steps, you will see that you will be happier and you will also feel less frustrated, I guarantee it.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 366 Regalo

    TRASCRIZIONE (ENG translation below)
Usate i cinque sensi.

    Translation
If you're listening to me sitting at home, find an excuse to go out, even a walk around the block is fine. If you have an elevator, walk down and count the stairs, count how many steps in each flight and then when you get down, multiply to see how many total steps are in your stairs. Go out into the street and walk aware that you are walking. Look in front of you but also look up. Look for the tops of the buildings, maybe you'll find a carpet spread out, some vases of flowers that you've never noticed before. Look at the lampposts, the cities' lampposts have coats of arms, especially in the historic centre. Have you ever noticed? Are there any emblems? Are there any flowers? Are there friezes? Use the five senses. If you see a wall that has an interesting texture, go closer and run your hand across the wall. Feel the surface, depending on the season, if you listen to this in summer, the wall maybe is going to be warm because you went out for this walk around the block after lunch in the strong sun. If, on the other hand, it's winter you feel that the wall is cold, perhaps they are those walls that are a little old, a little peeling and you will find a little dust, a little plaster on your fingers. Feel the smells that are around us. If you are in an area a little out of town, maybe there is the smell of that tree that has just flowered in the middle of winter, even the smells of exhaust fumes, of passing cars. Or maybe you are listening to this and you are inside the market where they are selling fish and there are the sounds of people selling and there is also the smell of fish. Feel what smells are around there. Look up, look at the sky, look at the shape of the clouds, and is the sky overcast? Is it sunny? Or is it night? Feel the things happening around you, look at the floor, look at what kind of texture, is the floor asphalt, or are you walking on a grassy area? What colors are around you? Are there, is there laundry hanging on the windows? Are there any buildings and what is going on? In short, I wanted to go back to doing my podcast (3 unedited minutes), this second season, today is the first day, giving you a small gift, a gift that I invite you to welcome, go outside and enjoy the space around you a bit. And even if right now you may not be in your best shape and you don't look great, remember that feeling bad is still 'feeling'. Glad to be back and missed you all.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 365 Gran finale! (0)
Raccontiamoci cose. Vi voglio bene, lo sapete, vero?

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    Cristina: Dove devo andare?.

    Romeo: Gran finale...

Cristina: Allora, gran finale.

    Romeo: No.

    Romeo: OK idea perfetta, allora

    Cristina: Mancano 15 secondi

    Cristina: No, ti prego basta...

Romeo: Allora, allora allora praticamente tu...

    FINE

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Cristina: Well we've arrived, we've reached the last episode and I've already made a whole mental map, something with fireworks to see how, how it will work, to see what cut I'll give now.

    Romeo: Fantastic idea!

Cristina: Wait, wait, he says. I was saying something. Wait a moment.

Romeo: So for the final episode...

Cristina: Wait a minute. I had already prepared a whole map, which you haven't seen, but I had something very particular in mind, so I don't know if your idea can be...

Romeo: OK, but how cool would it be if you make a contemporary interactive site? 3 raw minutes and then put on, maybe do a guy with all the highlights of the minutes, you know?

Cristina: Then we didn't understand each other. The idea of the 3 minutes, from the beginning, was to do minimal work, minimal editing. It's not like you can put me into a multiverse. I mean, what am I, I am Zuckerberg, right?

Romeo: Come on, we're at the end, give one.

Cristina: One, but then one isn't that I can make a site for an episode, right? So, I was telling you, this last episode of the raw 3 minutes I mapped the territory and made a series of considerations these considerations have been divided...

Romeo: And if instead you go down to...

    Cristina: Where should I go?.

Romeo: Radio x, you have friends there, go to Benoni...

Cristina: Excuse me for a moment...

Romeo: And you ask him to put your latest episode on the radio for everyone, maybe even put on some music like that It's a really nice...

Cristina: Ah why don't you like my episodes without such essential music, you who were forced by me to listen to them?

    Romeo: Grand finale...

Cristina: So, grand finale. We don't have any fireworks left from New Year's Eve, do we?

    Romeo: Nope.

Cristina: I hadn't even bought them. We can pretend and make the fireworks with pum, pum pum, with the mouth with... Exactly. A Rossinian crescendo of pops. No, then, I was saying, I was preparing for this ending because I wanted to use these last few minutes, now there are some left... Oh my God, there are 45 seconds left... No, we don't want to give thanks because I don't like thanks, they are always terribly boring, also because who cares, who I thank already knows to be thanked and thanked, so nothing. I had prepared myself... But you distracted me a bit, now I can't remember where, what I wanted to say, and you know that I don't take notes because these are 3 rough minutes that have always been improvised.

    Romeo: OK perfect idea then

    Cristina: 15 seconds to go

Romeo: Perfect idea then Then feel this idea really this idea will revolutionize the world of podcasting forever

    Cristina: No, please stop...

Romeo: So, then then basically you...

LINK Il racconto dei miei 4 giorni di cammino, con foto e racconto sonoro / here I tell the story of the trip, with pictures and sound

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    Grazie.

    ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Last but one appointment with my 3 uncut minutes that I've been carrying on, let's say for almost exactly a year, and as you've noticed from the countdown, the countdown on the podcast cover, today we are at -1 and tomorrow will be episode zero, so the one with which we will conclude the cycle.

Cycle that concludes at the beginning of the year, but this beginning of the year that, let's say, did not give me the impression of really starting with January 1st, also because I am in the midst of preparing for my long journey along the Santa Barbara Walk.

I prepared the backpack, filled it, emptied it, filled it again, emptied it. And then I'm there wondering the night before I go to sleep: but how many pairs of socks do you really, really need when you're four days out? And how many shirts do I really need to bring with me? Is it really necessary to have a spare pair of pants?

I definitely decided pants as spare, yes, because what if they get wet for some reason or are no longer wearable when I leave, I can't put a shirt on my legs instead of pants, so definitely spare pants to bring along because they are necessary.

Uh yes, I was saying, I started filling and emptying the backpack, pondering what things I might need. So even if we're on January 2nd, for me the year will begin with this trip and I propose to think, meditate, enjoy the landscape.

I am also wondering how I will conclude, what I will do for the last episode of 3 uncut minutes, I have to say I haven't thought about it yet, also because if you've listened to a few previous episodes, you also know that I like to improvise a bit, that is, open the microphone and jump in. And also this was the idea behind 3 raw minutes, to see what effect it has to improvise in front of the microphone, and in fact you also get all my various hemm, mmm... yes, yes, I never take them out because, I barely listen to, rarely listen to what I recorded, I publish it directly.

30 seconds left and you're also used to it, that when about 30 seconds are left I also say it because I have to think of something to say for 30 seconds, but I can't start a new conversation because a new conversation might need more than 30 seconds, but I want to come as close as possible with content until the end of my 3 minutes which at this point are still 10 seconds to fill and I want to fill them with many kisses, hugs and happiness. Well, I couldn't think of anything better.

    Thank you.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 363 Perdendoci (-2)

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

Primo dell'anno, giorno in cui si fanno i propositi, New Year Resolution, Ma io i miei propositi me li metto , me li faccio, me li disfo tutti i giorni dell'anno.

Buon anno a tutti.

    ENG Translation
The magic of getting lost on New Year's Day. Morning walk to breathe some clean air.

First day of the year 2022, we wanted to have a coffee under the arcades of via Roma, which is the street that runs along the port, but when we made up our minds, the place we wanted to go was enclosed, so we continued and continued , as always often happens, I always say: get lost and you will find things, you will discover things you did not know existed, and in fact we came across this, this café which is right inside the port, in front of the private boats, fantastic, beautiful view. In fact, the first thing we said to each other was: how wonderful!

We will come back here on other occasions too! I imagine here in the summer, coming for an aperitif here with a view of the sea, on the boats, let's say it's a nice way to spend the evening. New Year's Day, the day when resolutions are made, New Year Resolution, but I make my resolutions, I make them, I discard them every day of the year. That's okay, subdued.

Clean city, among other things, often on New Year's Day the city is found dirty, instead the city is clean, and that's okay. It was a first of the year, a somewhat understated New Year's Eve. Oh God, there were those who blew their fingers off these with these barrels, which read, you read Ah! forbidden, but then on the street corners there were stalls of people selling. If I see the barrels coming, don't the municipal police see them? Oh well but what do I know, maybe even the municipal police will stop to buy these barrels.

Still it was pretty quiet and that's okay. That is, there is this thing here of having to have fun at all costs for New Year's Eve, but let's have fun every day of the year and if New Year's Day is like any other, that's fine, right? And I always say, even to those who complain, you're complaining, which is much more than many other people who no longer complain can do and say. Alright folks, I'll leave you with these slightly wintry thoughts, but my lungs are filled with salt here in front of the water and there's something magical in the water.

There is something magical about staying at the port, the noise of the ships, the noise of the cars, of the traffic, of the water, in short, the noise. Happy New Year to all.

  • 3' grezzi Ep. 362 Nebbie (-3)

    TRASCRIZIONE [ENG translation below]

    TRANSLATION
This morning I woke up and the city was completely white, not with snow but with fog, which really seemed to be inside a glass of water and aniseed, to quote a song that I once liked so much that I still do. It is unusual to see Cagliari shrouded in fog because it is a seaside city, therefore also subjected to strong winds and in the past days there was a nice sustained mistral wind.

But I don't know what happened. Things are happening that are a little out of the ordinary for this time of year. It's hot, today I think we have twenty degrees, twenty-one degrees. I haven't looked, but it's certainly hot, enough to stay with the windows open and to sweat when you go out dressed in winter, with a coat, a shirt and various jackets.

Ehm yes there is this strange feeling of waiting, also because when there is fog then it is as if everything were more silent. The sirens of the ships could be heard from afar, I looked out into one of the bastions of the city, the bastion of Santa Croce, where you could see absolutely nothing. But you could hear the noise of the ships and it seemed to be in a city like idk, I don't know, in the north, in Europe, where there is always fog instead.

I remember the first time I saw thick, thick, thick fog when I lived in Bologna, and it was the first time I saw fog, let's say absolutely in such a crazy way and certainly the first time I saw fog in the city. I remember I was in Piazza Maggiore, right in the center of Bologna, this square which is quite large, but certainly not miles long, and from one side of the square you couldn't see the other end of the square, and for me, woman of the island, a woman accustomed to the beaches, in fact, and to the coasts, to the shores lashed by the mistral wind, for me it was an absolutely new thing. And then for that period, when I lived in Bologna, I also learned about fog even when... I remember once we went to the theatre, idk, in one of the nearby villages, one of the towns near Bologna, and we went to like twenty hour because there was absolutely nothing in sight and I was terrified because I was not used to being in a car in the fog. It had never happened to me before and I was literally terrified at the time, but luckily the person driving was used to it and so we went and returned safely from our excursion.

Yes, today Cagliari is shrouded in fog, now it's one o'clock but the clear, clean sky we're used to is still not there. And oh well, it will come anyway. I'm not complaining because it's hot anyway.
