As many of you know, I had the amazing opportunity to go to CANWELD 2023 in Moncton New Brunswick with the Canadian Welding Bureau. This was a great event full of awesome speakers and presentations on pre and post heat, modes of metal transfer, automation and a slew of other topics. I had the esteemed opportunity to be invited up to the conference as a Keynote speaker on the last day of the conference. My buddy Max Ceron and I took to the stage in a between two ferns type of setup to discuss the current skills gap. While most welders will argue whether it's a skills gap, or a wage gap (I personally think it's both) the fact of the matter is that it's not just effecting the US, it's also effecting Canada, as well as many parts of Europe. In this episode, Max and I discuss some of the things we as professionals, business owners and manufacturers can do to attract young talent into our industry. I'm sure you all have heard that it takes a village to raise a child, well it's going to take an industry to bring in the next generation. There is not a one size fits all solution, but I give my two cents on how we can start to make a change.
