The book of Ruth opens with Elimelech’s choice to leave the land of God’s people and journey to the pagan land of Moab due to troubling news of a famine. Following Elimelech’s poor decision and his eventual passing, his family receives good news that leads them back to their homeland. The choice of which report to believe is one that every child of God will face—and we choose to believe the report of the Lord!
