Welcome back to 50Talk, this is Episode 69 and this week Victor and Cathy will make this show about the year 1969. The year of the birth of Cathy. Hopefully you all will learn a little bit more about Cathy during this episode. So yesterday was the 1st day of Day Light Saving Time and the weather in Ohio was crazy. It's mid-March and it was snowing and 35 degrees. The way things go in Ohio in March it may be 70 by the next few days. 

We start the "Cathy Show" with some important facts from the year 1969. I personally liked that Neil Armstrong landed on the moon. But there were also some very noteworthy things happening in 1969.  With yesterday being Oscar night we mention that Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid was the movie of the year making $100,000 at the box office. Can you imagine that today? A lot has changed since 1969.

Next I ask some more personal question to Cathy and some of her responses are funny. Funny to me because I didn't let her see the outline at all before the show, so she was so unprepared for my questions.  Listen to her answer when I asked her what's the scariest, most adventurous thing she has done in her life up to this point. It really is podcast gold. 

So upon ending the personal interview we move on to the kidnapping of Americans in Mexico over the last few weeks. I have a lot of unanswered questions about the four North Carolina folks and the story behind it all. It was also a big topic of discussion at the Barbershop this weekend. Is it really possible to get lost in another country with just about every person having a GPS in their pocket? Hell, is it possible to get lost anywhere these days? 

Finally we hand the mic to Cathy to close the show out with some history facts for Woman's History Month. She talks about two legends in woman's history.  We hope you guys enjoy the history and the interview with Cathy and we hope you all learned a little something as well.

Welcome back to 50Talk. This week your hosts Cathy and Victor want to do something a little different. With this episode being number 68 we decided to talk about the year 1968. The year of Victor's birth. Yes I really am that old believe it or not. So Cathy does a very in-depth interview of me. Hopefully you guys will all get to learn a little bit about me. Get to see what a "nice guy" I really am. 

So after the interview we discuss a little bit about the trial of Alex Murdaugh, the Lawyer from South Carolina's Low-country. I said earlier last week that this guy getting on the stand was White Privilege at it's worst. He really thought he could talk himself out of going to prison because he is a skilled lawyer from a prestigious family in that community the trial was taking place. Thinking maybe he could just apologize and cry and snot a little bit. Thankfully I believe the jury got it right this time. 

We end the show with some conversation on the new Netflix Live Show with Chris Rock and the Oscar Awards slap. He really went in on Will Smith (which he really deserved) and even his wife Jada. I mean, dude been holding all his emotions in for the last year to let it all come out in this special.

Welcome to this Special Episode of 50Talk. This week we had been planning for a while to do our monthly live show on the book Uncomfortable Conversations With A Black Man written by Emmanuel Acho. The host picked this  book up at the end of January and both decided to end Black History Month with our discussion and review of the book. On this special episode we try to go through the book a chapter at a time but by the end we ran out of time. We did miss some of the more controversial sections in my mind but we will talk about them at a later day. Please enjoy the Special Episode and we hope to see you all next week.

Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 67 and your Host Victor & Cathy are glad to have you guys back again. Sorry for the late posting of the show but I (Victor) had an extended weekend and time got away from me. 

Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday and Mrs. Sheryl Lee Ralph sang "The Black National Anthem"  Lift Every Voice and Sing and that put Racists Twitter is a tizzy! I put a few of the on-line comments in the show but you can only imagine the hate from Twitter, mainly because Twitter has turned into a cesspool of White Supremacy lately. She did sing that song well but Cathy and I were confused if we were there do we stand for that song like the National Anthem? 

I (Victor) renewed my CCW License last week and it was a smooth transaction just like I like it. I asked the Sherriff in the Office helping me what she thought of the new gun laws in Ohio since Governor DeWine changed them in June. I was totally shocked by her reply.  I used my Veterans Perks this time to renew so I didn't have to pay the $50. That made me happy. 

Gun Ownership amongst African Americans are up since 2020. In a two month period in June and July of 2022 Applications for CCW in Maryland went from 609 in 2021 to 5,314 in July of 2022 mainly because people want to keep themselves safe after the Pandemic, George Floyd and Jan 6th. 

We have a Black History fact for this week and it's kind of personal because it happened so close to home. We talk about John Mercer Langston he is iconic in our area. So enjoy the Black History Fact and let us know if you knew about Mr. Langston. 

Cathy has a special topic for Valentines Day to share with everyone.  Seven Tips to a Successful Relationship after 50. Yes we are both after 50 and some of our listeners are as well so enjoy the discussion. 

Finally we want to know, Do you Prefer Binge Watching shows or Episodic shows? I think after our discussion we've decided that we are 50/50. We binge watch as much as Episodes. I know I do more than Cathy does anyway.

Welcome back to 50Talk. This is Episode 66 and Me (Victor) & Cathy are glad to have you all join us again. We reached a big milestone in our show this week. We got our 3,000th download and we just want to thank everyone who's been listening for 66 shows. We really do appreciate all (3 at least) of you. We start the show off this week with a thank you to Cathy for posting on our Family Facebook Page about my Grandpa & Grand Ma Craig. They are the reason for our family and the traditions and values that we have. So we as a family honor them this Black History Month. 

We have to talk about "The Balloon" that was floating across the United States the last few days. Y'all know I can't miss a moment to talk about some of our political leaders and the craziness that they do. The President has been getting hammered for a few days for his lack of action on this matter. 

Republican led States across the country are pushing Legislation to restrict Drag Show Performances. This is completely insane and scary at the same time. Though this is not law as of today we still need to pay attention to what's going on. I mentioned The Handmaidens Tail a few times in the show. This is where our politicians  In Republican led States are trying to take us to.  Y'all need to stay awake out there. 

Family ties and the differences between Black and White Families is up next. We feel that Black Families (folk) usually has a sense of community with each other but maybe not so much with white families/folks. This is just our opinion and based off of our interactions with different families over our time together. 

The next topic picks up right where Family Ties ends and it's about the movie You People. Out on Netflix and in the Top 10 most watched this week. We give our opinion of the movie and mention some of the stars that are in the movie. Of course I (Victor) will give my opinion on the movie. 

Next up we are talking about the funeral for Tyre Nichols and also the eulogy by Rev. Al Sharpton. Ben Crump and Kamala Harris also had some words to say as well. I mention that Reverend Al is growing on me as we both get older. Sadly as much as he is doing funeral like this one we will continue to see him. 

We can't go to long with out talking about the Governor of Florida Ron DiSantis and him trying to mandate high school girl athletes reveal there menstrual cycles for what ever reason that may be. I believe its to keep Transgenders out of girls athletics because we all know that is such a big problem. (sarcasm)

George Santos is back in the News again but this time it may be because of a sexual assault. A House Ethics complaint has been filed against him. Y'all have got to hear this. Nothing this guys does surprises me any more. He is just a magnet for negative attention.

Welcome back to our weekly podcast, 50Talk. This is Episode 65.
We hope to continue to entertain you, or at least provoke new thoughts and conversations. 
Listen as we recap our Facebook Live/Zoom show from Friday the 27th, when we discussed with our community their reactions to the released police body cam videos and pole video of the brutal beating of Tyre Nichols.
 We want to thank everyone that participated in that show, and express our sincere condolences for the lose of such a young and vibrant life.
New topics discussed this episode are Mass Shootings vs Traffic Stops, and why do people who commit mass shootings usually get taken into custody by police without incident, while people committing minor traffic stops have had incidents that end in being murdered by the Police?
Victor listened to Micheal Smerconish and heard a question that piqued his interest and provoked some discussion among us, “Should schools allow students to change gender identity without parental permission?"
Pajamas stole some spot light as we debated if wearing them in public is just an Elyria thing, or are people everywhere doing everything in their pajamas?  How has dress in America gotten so casual?
Victor entertains us with his love for chicken and enlightens us about Bojangles making its way north in Ohio.
We wrap up the show reviewing The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act, discussing the  Memphis Police Departments S.C.O.R.P.I.O.N Units being shut down, and commenting on Jason Whitlock's  comments while on FoxNews earlier this week about "black single mom's". 
Prior to ending the show some add on discussion was had about older pets and their failing health.
This podcast was another hour plus show of entertaining conversation.

Welcome back to another episode of 50Talk. The host are glad to have you all back with us again for another fun filled episode. This week we would like to introduce to you all my Sister Terri. We (and all my siblings) are all getting to know each other a lot more since the passing of our Oldest Brother last year. I self-proclaimed 2022 as the year of family so what a better way to keep this new years 1st month rolling then with Family. We start off with a couple questions for Terri to make sure she is comfortable with this whole podcasting thing. I ask her if I'm being a good big-brother and if we have gotten to know each other better over the last year.  A quick reminder about The 50Talk live show on February 18th at 2:00pm where we will be talking about the book "Uncomfortable Conversation with a Black Man" to keep with the theme for Black History Month.  We hit Terri with the question "What is your favorite comfort food" because Terri is quit the cook, and also the best food she ever had.  So today January 22nd in Chinese New Year, the year of the Rabbit. We talk a little bit about if we believe in Astronomy/Zodiac Signs. Some of the information about Chinese New Year was all new to me.  So did you guys know or ever hear of "Dry January"? I had not until last week but I'm sorry to say I will not be taking part in the festivities. I like my booze to much but those of you who are, ya'll have a good time.  I bring up my old buddy Ron DeSantis and the craziness that he pulled this week by taking a Black Histories Study class out of a schools curriculum. This guy keeps saying it's CRT and it is not. It is just Black history. History that shouldn't and won't be denied.  Next up is conversation about another one of my "favorite" guys George Santos and more of his crazy ass lies. When anyone has to lie about there Moms death you know something is wrong with them. This week another story is added to his list of lies.  The last topic of the show about Five Memphis Tennessee policemen who have all gotten fired for the arrest and the death of a motorists. It's another one of those stories that just eats me up inside and continues to piss me off.  We had some listener feedback this week in the  email variety that we end the episode with. Welcome back to another episode of 50Talk. This is Episode 63 and the Host Victor & Cathy have some things to talk about on this Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. week. Some of the topics we talk about this week are very emotional to me (Victor) so excuse my passion at times.  We start the show off with a quote from Dr. King that provoked some thought in me. I am getting to know a new co-worker and he said some things to me at work that made me think more deeply about the quote. I try not to be to judgmental about people but the new guy got me looking at him all different now. The 1st topic of the show is a shooting in a Texas restaurant where a good guy with a gun takes down a would be robber. The story is crazy but listen to Cathy and I give our opinions on the shooting. Ya'll have  to remember this did happen in Texas and those folks are on a totally different sheet of music than others. Next up I have been holding out a good part of the week on giving my opinion on the "Joe Biden Top-Secret Documents". Ya'll are gonna be surprised at my thoughts on this entire situation. So Cathy and I had an awesome lunch date with family and we talked about a lot of great things. One topic we talked about is "Can a single Mom teach her sons how to be men" and being raised by a single Mom and two other brothers I have a lot to say about this as well. Sadly with it being MLK Day and everything that he did for Civil Rights I have to talk about another Police shooting of an un-armed man in California. The 3rd such killing in this New year already. This is where the passion in my voice comes out. So enjoy the episode and we look forward to being with you guys again next week.

Fresh off the editing table is another episode of 50Talk. Episode 62 with Victor & Cathy as we continue into the New year with a couple Thank You's for our guest from last weeks live show.  We would also like to let you all know that we will try and do a live show at least once a month or possibly more if a situation dictates. I'm a big talker and would love to get your live opinions on a subject as soon as possible. Also we will be starting a YouTube channel or change my current channel to The 50Talk YouTube channel. Please stay on the look out for that shortly.  Cathy and I did a little challenge on Saturday evening. No Social Media for 6 hours.  Listen to see how that went and if there will be more in the future. Next Cathy and I watched Lisa Ling's CNN show a couple weeks ago and the subject was about Inter-racial couples. We are shocked but not really shocked that this type of hatred still exists in 2021-2022. How have things really changed in the 26 years since Cathy and I have been together in Commercials, on cards and etc.  Also have you ever listened to a song and then seen its video and realized that the words are different than you thought they were? As older people we are going through the same things our parents went through when we were young. It's funny how the circle goes.  Briefly Cathy gets into a Episode on CNN with Billy Joel and his music over the years and how music has changed since Itunes and Spotify. Listen to what we think about that.  What's been the hardest thing about doing this podcast or podcasting? We also get into some of our favorite shows and movies of 2022?  Also, Cathy wants to let you all know how she is adjusting to me being back to work and what she should do next. Now that I am out of the house again after being off since summer.  Finally we close the show with the "Shit-Show" in Congress over the week.  Such an embarrassment to America and mostly to the Republican Party.  Happy Martin Luther King Day early but we hope to see you all before the special day. Happy New Year and welcome back to 50Talk. Cathy and I (Victor) are glad to be able to start the New Year off with a new episode and some new ways of getting our voices out there. This week we are trying to post our show live on Facebook Live and record the audio for our podcast listeners as well. We hope you enjoy both, let us know what you think. This week we have a couple guest joining us for a bit to bring in the New Year. My cousin Larry and also my cousin Amber join the show. We start the show off asking, "Who stayed up until mid-night last night"? Is it also traditional for you all to watch the ball drop or to do something else to bring in the New Year.  What would your dream New Years eve look like? Do you dream of going to a ball type event or just chill at home?  What about resolutions? Does anyone still make New Years resolutions?  Is there something you wish you knew a year ago? What is something you would live without in 2023? This is the type of show we have this week and we thank Larry and Amber for joining us.
