The severe threat has moved to the east of the Charlotte area, after strong storms moved through Georgia into the Carolinas this morning.
A strong storm system moving through the region produced a grand total of 14 tornado reports, 160 wind reports and 25 large hail reports over the last 24 hours, with these numbers likely to grow -- but none were in our area.
This severe weather window has closed for the Charlotte area but a cold front will push in later today.
Here's how that could impact you: https://www.wcnc.com/article/weather/severe-weather/strong-storms-wednesday-carolina/275-9d99d88b-b82a-4024-9ef7-4b7be7c8e4d3

Several claims online say women who take Ozempic are becoming pregnant -- even those who are on birth control.
The results of those pregnancies have been dubbed "Ozempic babies." But is this a real unintended consequence of taking Ozempic? Our #verify team looked into it.

A few strong thunderstorms ahead of daybreak Wednesday is a reason to stay Weather Aware overnight Tuesday.
WCNC Charlotte Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich is tracking an approaching cold front, which is forecast to fuel a few strong thunderstorms as most people are asleep.
Beginning with bedtime on Tuesday night and continuing through early Wednesday morning, residents should be Weather Aware due to the risk of thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong enough to produce severe, damaging winds. Panovich said, luckily, the risk of tornadoes is low.

A proposed development set to go before Mooresville town leaders was first presented to the town planning board last fall. At the time, it was met with concerns from the board as well as Mooresville residents.
These concerns include traffic issues, lack of retail-commercial space, and the development's distance from the nearest fire department. The 52-acre site is planned for a portion of Alcove Road, east of I-77.

One person was hurt while evacuating a plane at Charlotte Douglas International Airport late Wednesday night, according to Medic.
Frontier Airlines Flight 1759 from Charlotte to Orlando was in the boarding process when a "strong odor was detected" on the plane. As a precaution, the flight was evacuated by both the jet bridge and the evacuation slides, according to the airline.

A container ship rammed into a major bridge in Baltimore early Tuesday, causing it to snap and plunge into the river below. Several vehicles fell into the chilly waters, and rescuers searched for survivors.
It was also not clear what caused the cargo ship to crash into the Francis Scott Key Bridge long before the busy morning commute in what one official called a “developing mass casualty event” in a major American city just outside of Washington. Two people were rescued, and it was not clear how many more might be in the water.
“Never would you think that you would see, physically see, the Key Bridge tumble down like that. It looked like something out of an action movie,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott, calling it “an unthinkable tragedy."

A crash south of Rock Hill Friday evening has now claimed four lives, two of them young children. One child died on the way to the hospital. The other one died of her injuries after getting there.
Residents in the area told WCNC Charlotte they've been worried about that stretch of Saluda Road. Some said they fear this won't be the last deadly crash, unless something is done.

Thursday night, a youth-led town hall brought city and county leaders together with teens in the community to discuss youth crime and gun violence.
Charlotte City Council member Tiawana Brown said they wanted to not talk about kids or talk at kids, but they wanted to listen with no judgment and no interruptions.
The meeting started with a moment of silence for Jaselyn Horne, who lost her life after a fatal shooting at the Cookout on Sunset Road last week.

March Madness is officially here. The first round of the NCAA Tournament tips off on Thursday when Mississippi State and Michigan State battle. The massive 68-team tournament is one of the most beloved traditions in all of sports thanks to its upset-fueled unpredictability.
