We start as always with Andrew and the Dewing Grain market report for week commencing 18th May 2020.
In Farmchat Andrew Ben and Joe have an impassioned discussion about the Agricultural Bill which was voted through in Parliament without the amendment to protect UK farmers from low-standard food imports. Described by Andrew as “a terrible moment for UK farming”, this is an issue we’ve had previously on the podcast. Ben gives us a history lesson on the Corn Laws (1815-1846) and the boys consider the future of food security if we become dependent upon imports from countries ruled by the likes of Bolsonaro and Putin.
Our beer this week is a local one: Wally’s Revenge 4% from The Why Not Brewery in Norwich. It goes down well and prompts an anecdote from Andrew about a boys’ jolly in Magaluf back in the day.
