Speaking with keyboardist Ryan Karkadoo after a successful performance from Nannup Festival, The Sandridge Band are on their way to gigs in Fremantle and Darwin. Their rock ‘n’ roll, reggae sound, with a dash of roots and blues, reflect life in their community and cultural story from their elders. Their set includes new songs that build on their 2019 album, Brolga Dreaming, amplifying the language and stories of the Yanyuwa, Gurrawa, Mara, and Gurdanji clans.

Epenarra-based gospel country singer, Kalvin Ladd, has released a new single, 'Lonely Road To Calvary', produced by Josh Kreusler from the Winanjjiki Music Centre. A successful painter and a member of The Country Gospel Band, Ladd is currently working on a solo album. He tells the Big Brekky Show his story.

Advocacy & Campaign Coordinator for the Justice Reform Initiative, Kirsten Wilson explains the repercussions of the recent plans to detain Mparntwe/Alice Springs young people in Darwin. The JRI is a philanthropically funded national organisation, who believe jailing is failing and that there is an urgent need to reduce the number of people in Australian prisons.

Alice Springs Hip Hop advocate, Dan the Underdog, is very concerned at the Northern Territory government's decision to close a school at the Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre that he believes has been life-changing for young people in detention. Dan worked at the school facilitating a music program, helping youth write and make songs about their life. He joins the Big Brekky Show to discuss the issues.

Adam Drake, founder of the Balanced Choice program, which aims to improve outcomes for young people in the justice system, has beat the Guinness World Record for the number of plyometric pushups achieved in one minute. On his birthday, supporters and witnesses gathered as Adam completed 28 'poly push ups' in one minute, beating the record of 11, and achieving a first world record for Tennant Creek. Thirteen years on from struggles with alcohol, Adam is proud to set an example for young people. “Anchor yourself with your values, so you can fly the life that you want".
