Sonic adventures continue this year as we anticipate Corrugations 17, the next concert in a series of experimental music performances in Mparntwe curated by Jon Rose. This Sunday 2nd February, from 6:30 - 8pm, audiences will be treated to guest musicians Mark Atkins, a didjeridoo virtuoso and song man of the Yamatji people of Western Australia, along with a local quartet of dancers Miriam Nicholls & Ashleigh Musk, and musicians Luiz Gubeissi and Jon Rose. The event is free, with donations welcomed, and supported by Creative Australia.

Chatting on the Big Brekky with Derek Guo about the beginning of the Year of the Wood Snake today, who is involved in Alice Springs’ Lion Heart Association. Their lion dance will be the exciting centrepiece at the upcoming celebrations here in Mparntwe: This evening at Watch This Space 29 Jan; on 7 Feb from 5.30pm at Uniting Church lawn. Then on Saturday 9 Feb festivities start at 10am at the Yeperenye Shopping Centre. Lion dances are performed to bring blessings for the new year.

What's it like to play at Tamworth Country Music Festival? The Big Brekky team find out from local Mparntwe folk musician, Emmy Ryan, live from the 2025 Festival site. With Palestine still under threat despite a current ceasefire in Gaza, Kathryn Kelly from the Independent and Peaceful Australia Network (IPAN) joins the Big Brekky to highlight Australia's implications in the genocide of Palestinians - including the role of Pine Gap - and demands Israel to be held to account.

Kathryn was a founding co-convenor of the Alliance Against Political Prosecutors, advocating for truth tellers/whistleblowers. She visited Gaza and the West Bank in 2002 and 2003 and then founded the ‘Australians for Justice and Peace in Palestine’ organisation in Canberra in 2003.
