Kemy Ogendi is a Kenya born artist who explores a mixture of tunes from 1950s ballads to gospel anthems. She performed her single 'Today'  and 'Someday' off her upcoming EP Lullaby for the Big Brekky Show. Kemy will be performing at the Festival of the Piano on the 14th of September at Araluen, organised by Jessye Blake and the Friends of Araluen.

The Big Brekky Show spoke with Aboriginal Investment NT CEO about their Strategic Investment Plan. Aboriginal Investment NT will invest its capital, sourced from royalties, to back Aboriginal organisations, businesses and small and large-scale investment opportunities in the NT. This will be in grants or investment with a focus on developing income generating assets so that local Aboriginal communities can meet their own social, economic and cultural aspirations.

Artist, Desmond Woodforde, is exhibiting at this year's Desert Mob exhibition for the first time. Desmond is with Mimili Maku Arts and has worked on a collaborative piece, now on show at Araluen Arts Centre, that shares his family's story about being cut of from their land ever since the Maralinga nuclear testing took place in the 1950's and 1960s. Desmond and Mimili Maku arts worker, Angus, visit The Big Brekky to share Desmond's story. Desert Mob, Desart's signature annual art festival, is curated by Hetti Perkins and Aspen Beattie and is taking place this weekend.

Gamilaroi rapper, Kobie Dee, wowed the crowds in Tennant Creek last night with a free gig at the Civic Hall, much to the delight of the Barkly’s hip-hop lovers. Kobie Dee is embarking on his first ever NT tour and stopped by the 8CCC Barkly studio to talk about what brings him to the Territory. Kobie will be in Mparntwe this Saturday to play at Children's Ground's Apmerenge-ntyele Festival: From the Land.
